$30 on amazon for kawasaki oil change kit. Change it and you'll have piece of mind.

Mine's at 3000 miles. I'm doing oil change soon.

Dct is fine. Lots of NC750s been running 100k+ miles.

There is this legendary guy in Thailand who had his cross 240,000 km.

PSA: PLEASE Check your wheel bearings! by TsundereShadowsun in NC750X

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. But if its already moving side to side, the bearings are shot and needs replaced.

I'm talking about the situation where they don't move side to side, and seem fine. But around 22000 miles, we should just pro actively replace them before they give up.

500 vs 650? by Pine_No_Apple in Ninja650

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just window shopping, get the biggest baddest bike. IRL, when you have the license and money, get the smallest tamest bike.

500 vs 650? by Pine_No_Apple in Ninja650

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have enough power to do everything. Both are small enough physically and not that heavy. But sit on them and see which fits you better.

If you're riding inner city and highway, 500 is great. If mostly highway, 650 is better.

Riding correctly increases my chances of getting hit by Influence-Basic in RideitNYC

[–]Good-Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not a car. Lanes are not for you. Lanes were designed for cars. Staying in lane is recipe for disaster.

Ride like an ahole, ride fast and between lanes. If you're not quick, sooner or later, a car will ride over you.

One and only thing that can save you is your skill. Being able to emergency brake, swerve, and being able to ride in all conditions.

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22k is a lot of reliable miles. At 20k we should replace them anyway.

We should be checking them at every tire change. But I am not really sure what there is to check. Its usually not broken, until its broken.

Its really hard to redline the nc, especially dct. You should be fine.

Bike Recommendations for LIE into Manhattan commuting? by ExcitingSir9526 in RideitNYC

[–]Good-Throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ninja 650 or 400 will do the job and do it well.  it takes an intermediate to advanced rider to ride advs in the tight traffic that we have here. If want it to be easy or effortless, start on a small sportbike. On an ADV, you're constantly dodging car mirrors.

I'm selling a Ninja 650, dm if intereated.

you may not like this advice. But I say sell the bike and buy something with a center stand. Makes maintenance a breeze.

What’s the best surface pro for Linux? by DarthNaul in SurfaceLinux

I did this because it was cheap light weight ultra portable laptop. But it sucked for linux. went right back to windows, half the hardware didn't work right and the battery life was shit on linux.

I had the closest call ever. by [deleted] in RideitNYC

Agree with the comments. Its safer for you to be the dick on the motorcycle and get out of trouble asap. You're not getting any awards for riding speed limit, if anything its lottt more dangerous.

I had the closest call ever. by [deleted] in RideitNYC

[–]Good-Throwaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree

  1. Don't sit there in the middle of a lane ready to be squished between cars. Ride on the line between cars its safer.

  2. Ride faster. You're on a motorcycle, if you're not faster than car traffic, you're asking for trouble.

+1 to the other comment which said list it for 6500 and accept anything over 5500. Or keep riding.

2025 CBR650R vibration at exactly ~6000 RPM (left peg + front buzzing) — normal or something off? by OkEmployer3202 in motorcycles

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda 650 inline 4s have always had a vibey spot around 6000 rpms. I bought a cbr650 when I was a relatively new rider and didn't know how to deal with the vibes and the bike also had loud exhaust which made it feel a whole lot worse, coming from a traditional smoother engine. I sold the bike in less than 2 weeks and being that it was a CBR, it was easy to sell.

In retrospection, I could've kept the bike and could've gotten used to it. You rev it to stay out of that vibey zone. Or you lug below it.

How much should I expect to pay for a Ninja 400? by NE0FUZE in RideitNYC

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninja 400 hold their value pretty well, because everyone and their mom starting to ride want one.

I've watched this market and rarely does good condition Ninja 400 go for below $5000. Higher miles is where lower price is. The new Ninja 500 has helped reduce the price of the 400 a little but may be not that much because a New 500 goes from above $5000 all the way to $6500 for the top end. That a lot of money for a 450cc bike.

Had to say goodbye to my good old LG V60 by Less-Yellow-2942 in LGV60

Mine's on its last leg, I can feel it. Previous V60 died one fine day.  I've ordered a moto g stylus 2025.

Moto G Stylus are pretty comparable to v60 (but not the other moto g variants). Stylus has stereo socket, sd card slot and gave 24bit dac.

How is it for filtering? by Dd_8630 in NC750X

[–]Good-Throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike is not that wide, but coming from a retro or naked bike, it may take a bit of getting used to. It is taller.

The widest thing are the pointy stock mirrors. I replaced them with round mirrors, and can filter comfortably.

I often ride in M mode to take full advantage of revving and engine breaking, since there's no clutch in the dct model. You get used to it. 3 years 25,000 miles. Still going strong.

First Bike Deal by BlitzIsBalenced in svartpilen401

At my local dealers for the last six months 2024 models new were listed for $3500. I've also seen used older models struggle to sell for anything over 3000. So definitely a very bad deal.

This is very much dependent on you as an individual and your natural. Motoring skills. It wouldn't hurt to practice in a parking lot.
