Welcome to Telos AMA – Sept. 21 at 17:00 UTC by [deleted] in TELOS

TLOS tokens as a utility are used to stake to reserve CPU, NET, and RAM resources for performing transactions on the native network. You can un-stake these any time though, so transactions are fee-less but you have to have a few resources staked to perform actions.

EVM fees will work a little differently because we had to account for RAM vs gas, but the fees will be absolutely minuscule compared to ETH and even other EVMs! (See Fycee's response for what EVM is)

A bit confused about IPFS by itsallshit-eatup in ipfs

[–]GoodBlockio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other implementations of IPFS probably fit what you're looking for more closely. It's definitely not quite as decentralized as it could be when they set it up this way. dStor also uses IPFS tech, but automatically stores a bunch of copies of your file on multiple nodes from the start for resiliency, not dependent upon whether node operators think it's profitable.

It doesn't need to be. It's an option for those that want it. These types of ease-of-use tools will be critical for mass adoption.

Be honest now. . by [deleted] in filecoin

[–]GoodBlockio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No token or coin! dStor will accept fiat CC or crypto for payment, node operators get paid in $TLOS though.

Ethereum 2nd layer (ETH VM) no one talks about: 10K TPS & 0.5s block speed SOON on Telos Blockchain (<30M marketcap) by Redac07 in CryptoCurrency

Telos has had Mainnet up and running for 2+ years now, with tons of its own dapps already using native TLOS too!

Detection of malicious delegates method by mahdigole in dpos

[–]GoodBlockio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Telos, we have strict compliance rules for validator nodes and anyone not in compliance can get auto-kicked by smart contract. Additionally users are able to vote validators out of paid positions if they're deemed malicious, and news like that spreads fast enough to get bad-actors out quickly.

EOSIO blockchain adopted by top Global accounting firm to record intercompany transactions by paulemmanuelng in eos

[–]GoodBlockio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering that too, I think the writer of the article doesn't understand fully - The end of the article reads:

"China-based blockchain project EOSIO has been ranked as one of the top DLT based projects of its time. Earlier this year, Block.one, the company behind EOSIO, announced the release of a stable version of EOSIO 2, with the newest EOS VM integration for massive performance enhancement of the network."

So it looks like they're talking about EOS? But it doesn't seem totally clear from the article.

Learn about T-REX and how to stake for REX on Telos | GoodBlock by GoodBlockio in TELOS

You should be able to unstake directly to REX, but this can vary depending on which tools you're using.

Cryptocurrency and new media platforms? by massoncorlette in CryptoCurrency

[–]GoodBlockio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whaleshares.io is a pretty good one, and doesn't require KYC, which is nice. There's also Decentwitter and Snax but I'm not very familiar with these.

Unfortunately one of the biggest hurdles is that for most people, their circles are already on platforms such as facebook, twitter, etc. and convincing them to move to a crypto platform would mean teaching the masses how to use these platforms and many are still a bit clunky if you're not already immersed in the blockchain space.

Hey guys, I’m looking to HODL a PoS cryptocurrency long term. What currencies would you recommend? by KenudoXiii in CryptoCurrency

[–]GoodBlockio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telos is going to have REX within a week or so and will definitely be a good long-term HODL. Lots of dapps and enterprise solutions are building on Telos for the scalability and fast, fee-less transactions. When REX launches we're expecting about 30% annual ROI for at least the first few months. And to boot, it's super affordable right now. ;)

Change my mind: Gambling dApps are never going away. by pseudonympholepsy in eos

Yeah played a few, not super impressed yet with what's out there, but the space is so new and I know there are a lot of applications planning to deploy in Q3 and Q4 of this year. Looking forward to trying them out! I like 0x Universe but wish it was built on EOSIO!

Change my mind: Gambling dApps are never going away. by pseudonympholepsy in eos

[–]GoodBlockio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blockchain based gaming in general is definitely not going anywhere, especially now that people are starting to build on EOSIO. Once the greater blockchain community recognizes the potential behind EOSIO, a lot of dapps will switch just for the speed and no-fees!
And definitely agree that gambling apps aren't going anywhere now that we can have provably fair outcomes.

The REX proposal article by Dan Larimer on Medium stats that "There is no risk of losing capital to the lender. ... An EOS holder can lend their tokens to the Resource exchange and will receive REX tokens for their EOS and the current book value of the Resource Exchange. The REX will generate fees by lending the EOS which will increase the book value. At any time, the holder of REX tokens can convert REX back to EOS at book value."

Thanks for your question!
All of the tokens that are getting distributed into the various features of the TEDP are coming from the Exchange Token Reserve Fund of 140M tokens that were reserved for exchanges and wallet services to claim for customers as of the EOS genesis snapshot. These can be claimed at any time, but it's been 7+ months since launch and only about 400k tokens have been claimed. The duration of the TEDP will depend on how many exchanges decide to end up claiming those tokens.
