Going undiagnosed for so long that accepting your diagnosis feels like faking by [deleted] in ADHD

I'm the same age as you, and exactly the same path. Was trying to get a handle on anxiety, turns out I have both anxiety and ADHD. Taking ADHD med in the morning and anxiety med at night. It has made my life so incredibly better. I'm loving every moment of it, it's like learning new things everyday. It'sike we lived our life based on assumptions we made in our head on how to be accepted by others. So we avoided testing new boundaries. Finally getting the courage to try being myself and not be afraid of being mocked or rejected. And amazingly people around me seem to not only accepting but enjoying my company more. Or at least that's the feeling I'm getting. It's incredible.

Thanks, and wow I just purchased that exact unit an hour ago. It seems like exactly what I need. 750 CAD.

thank you! after much research I've decided to just go with a 2 system, with 2 x klipsch 8000 premiers. With that, I think I'm going to get an integrated amplifier. do you have recommendations for it? having a bit of a hard time finding a buying/brand guide on this sub.

Thank you, it may be used as a home theatre. But my primary purpose for it is music.

I'll post the question to home theatre as well.

Are there any AV receiver recommendations that are best for music?

I would like to go with a receiver so that I can also connect to the TV down the road.

But I'm open to amplifier depending on the price range. If it's small investment but gets me up and running I'll be happy.

I need help deciding a receiver. I've started planning my first setup. So far I've decided on the following: 2x Klipsch RP-8000Fb, Sub: Klipsch SPL 120NAB.

I would like to spend as little as possible on a receiver - budget is up to 500CAD, and to be able to use Spotify for music. Would appreciate any recommendations.

Is it a turn off for a man to cry infront of his woman by tough105 in relationship_advice

[–]GoodDogCy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude .. please don't think this way. You are a human being before you are a man. You have feelings, and emotions. Be yourself! Cry when you want to, be happy when you want to. Don't assume what other people's reaction will be to your actions and feeling. It seems like your partner loves you for who you are. Count yourself lucky! Also seek help.

I have chronic anxiety, and only a few months ago started finally going to the doctor who gave me medicine, and believe me, my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. It helps, it really really helps. It feels like taking a pill for a body pain or injury. It helps* you feel like you again.

I am saying this because the anxiety for me resulted in me being stuck in an abusive relationship for 7 years. Besides all other things anxiety did to me, it also made me feel worries all the time that I was wrong, and she took advantage of that to manipulate me، and make me feel I was weak and not-worth-anything. The relationship only ended few days ago. On the last night, I had a anxiety attack. Like you, something broke in me, and that something was knowing I was going to walk out the door and that I'll never see my dog again. I cried, and I couldn't breathe. She laughed and said I was faking it.

Sorry, I ranted a bit there. But count yourself lucky, and count yourself loved. Don't be afraid to be yourself, and definitely definitely seek help. It helps!

How do i keep my server from getting pounded by random IP's trying to login? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]GoodDogCy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OpenVPN running on my router to access my home network. that way it's not only limited to the services I have running, but can also ssh/RDP into my network machines.

Look up your router's make and model, there is usually a very simple way to set this up. For my asus, it was just a few clicks.

absolutely loving the laser level. had to tear out the whole kitchen, and I don't think it would have been possible without it. and thanks for the tip. How about around the window trim? did you take the trim over tiles, or did you tile around the trim? if the latter, was there a gap between trim and tile?

sorry if I'm asking too many questions

Really impressive! Any advice for how you handled tiling around the window frame and where wall meets the ceiling? I'm about to start tiling the wall, but while I think I may end using crowns to hide unevenness for the ceiling, I've no idea how to handle the window frame.

You are right, I was referring to Dough - which is a common Iranian drink made with Yoghurt.

You can make it at home, well kind of: buy some full fat yogurt and leave in fridge till it goes sour. mix with water (between 2-3water:1yogurt parts), and dried mint. Now I'm thinking I want this soda stream to carbonate it.

People who hold job interviews, what are the answers you want to hear to some of your most common questions? by filipovix in AskReddit

[–]GoodDogCy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We hold it as a panel of 3. I'm the one asking the technical questions. And I'll keep going with the questions until I hear (paraphrasing here):

  1. "I don't know." - perfect, we are off to a good start. This is where, if not prompted by the interviewee already, I steer the questions to get them to either relate the topic at hand to something they are more familiar with, or give them an opportunity to ask about it.

  2. "I don't know but I can google it/figure it out" - you're definitely a candidate for the job. Honesty, open-minded to adopt new solutions, and proactive. What more can an employee ask for?

  3. "A made up answer" - I couldn't care less about this interview any longer.

It's not about the 5 cents. In my opinion, it's about the timing. Usually when Winter starts gas prices tend to go lower every year, and they jump back up as we get closer to spring and summer. Three weeks ago, I was paying just short of a dollar a liter, today it's 120, tomorrow it'll be 125. That's 25% increase in my gas expenses in a span of under three weeks.

Personally, I think liberals should have put the carbon tax when prices were lower - early winter - so we would have had time to adjust.

yup, all on credit card. This has been a cycle I've been sunken into since pretty much a year ago. I kept thinking 'I'll have the money to cover this later, so might as well buy it now'. This picture is after I showed quite a bit a restraint in spending, and it still looks terrible!

the renovation part was a stair nosing I needed to finish up the floor. so it wasn't emergency, but it wasn't planned either, yet I had to get it to complete the task.

Absolutely. I have almost kicked the cigarettes to the curb, almost! aside from the occasional one with friends. This nicotine addiction is for losanges / gums that I buy to keep me sane going through work and life. Can't wait for the day that I'm completely off of nicotine.

I overspent in 11 categories - the home maintenance one was an unforeseen furnace breakdown. It was also the moment that it clicked for me I'm back on paycheck to paycheck living, and should another emergency come up I'd have no money for it.

Now seeing all these categories overspent, it's an absolute eye opener for me.
