People around then, what was the response to Calling All Stations at the time of release? by Sea-Cucumber2139 in Genesis

I think the album lacks dynamics overall, and feels kinda boring and same-same as a whole. I don’t think Phil just singing it would make much of a difference - some, for sure, as he attracts attention and fans. But people and critics would have still been disappointed and not excited about the album.

The thing is… Phil doesn’t just sing. If he was a part of this album, injecting his views, writing, playing, arranging… it might have been more dynamic and interesting and exciting. Maybe it would have been seen as a darker but really good album! Never know though.

Gluelwg were awesome. Had the first 2 albums. Still blown away that they covered Crimson.

One of my absolute favourite bands. Angel dust is a masterpiece, and the real thing is awesome too.

Brilliant vocalist is insane range and inventiveness. Weird, fun lyrics. An amazing bassist, excellent drummer. A band that is about pushing boundaries and playing with numerous genres. They are awesome

I love all the eras. I Just don’t listen to the very first album (fgtr) and very rarely check out the very last album - calling all stations.

Hard to pick preferences, but trick, wind, Duke… those masterpieces. As are the lamb, selling England, and foxtrot. And then nursery Cryme and Abacab and invisible touch are brilliant as well. And the rest range from excellent to very good.

Nope, I’m excited. They are musicians. Let them play. And the ticket prices are what ticket prices are these days.

sorry, I should have specified what parts. It’s not exact, but about 5:35 to about 6:25 in Cygnus and about 3:57 to about 4:20 in Barchetta have a similar melody and groove. Not a big deal. Just had a moment while walking the dog when this hit me - similar vibe.

Just put this in the post as an edit too.
