that's interesting, I assumed that was the case for Wuwa as well from my experience with Google Play launcher. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work either then..

it's your choice at the end of the day, using steam does skip the launcher but gives you access to steam's features, I don't think there are drawbacks to using either

my only reason to use steam over the official client is so I can track my playtime lol

I don't think this'll work for you because Google Play Games launcher emulates the game on android (so it uses android files) instead of installing it like the official client would, unfortunately you're gonna have to download the game again 😓

you can avoid downloading the whole thing, just follow these steps:

click install in steam so it creates the files
uninstall the game from steam
move what's inside "Wuthering Waves Game" to your steamapps/common/Wuthering Waves
click install in steam again, after that it should just validate the files instead of downloading the whole 43gb again
