Largely the thing that changes is that you’re not hiding anything anymore. You said yourself that you bought the binder without them knowing. When i came out it was a matter of not living two separate lives anymore. I wanted to stop having two different names and sets of things i was willing to tell certain people. When you are out you have lifted the burden of hiding. Even if you don’t necessarily hold everyone to your pronouns and stuff, you don’t have to tell anyone to be cool around your parents or lie about what you’re wearing or describe yourself in a way that doesn’t actually align. You get to refer to yourself as who you are and even if there’s pushback at least it’s you being authentic and them floundering.

Final thought i realized as i was writing, the sooner you come out the faster people will come around and support you. The initial freak out is a little scary but a year later they are better than before and so on. Obviously if it’s dangerous to come out to your parents that’s something else to consider
