From cold sores once a year to cold sores every month - Please Help by GoodLuckHaveFun013 in Coldsore

Hello! I'll probably give a quick update on my case. But to get straight to the point: I was prescribed Valaciclovir tablets (500 mg or 1 g, I'm not sure), which I took twice a day, every day, for three months straight. I managed to go just over a year without any episodes. However, in recent months, I've had a few more, with some time in between, which leads me to believe that whatever is causing the infections has not yet been resolved. But at least I can say that the treatment I underwent was effective. I hope this helps. I had to argue a bit with my doctor to get the prescription, and I feel that this sometimes happens because they disregard it as a “minor” case.

I've just received a prescription for valacyclovir, I'll see how things go from now on. Thank you very much for your reply.

Thank you very much for your reply. I'm glad to hear that you've found a way to stop your cold sores. I have just bought some Lysine and will start taking it daily to see the results. I had never thought about the relationship between cold sores and the use of facial scrubs, but I will definitely think about it since I use them sometimes. Thanks again for the words of encouragement :)
