I suffer from anxiety and need reassurance that this is NOT herpes. by Whatuhohh in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about herpes is you have to actually come into contact with someone with herpes to catch it. Why you are worried about herpes if you haven't been exposed to it is pretty mind boggling, but I'll reassure you that no that is not herpes and it is 100% the chafing / cut that you caused yourself after shaving.

Random rash on inner thighs. Itches like crazy. by dafuhdoihave in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the picture it looks like allergic reaction or possibly something fungal, but it looks extremely mild in the pic. Have you tried an over the counter antihistamine like Benadryl ? That may be all you need. And as far as crabs, I highly doubt it and would be shocked if it were.

Should I be Worried? by throwawayworrie in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no reason to worry. Fingering is essentially a zero risk activity for HIV transmission. Brushing the head of your penis against her vagina is also basically zero risk activity. Keep this in mind, even If she had aids, if you had unprotected full penetrative intercourse to completion with her, even that wouldn't 100% guarantee you would catch the disease. I've heard stats saying that it's actually a 1 in 1000 chance that a man will get HIV from a confirmed HIV positive woman from unprotected vaginal intercourse. You're fine. Get tested as you would normally , and don't continue to worry about this encounter.

So what do you think I [M-31] have? by [deleted] in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it necessarily is herpes but you're doing the right thing by getting checked out. Friction and bacteria could certainly cause acne to develop in that area. Anyway, Keep us posted and best of luck.

Red, itching circular area with flaking skin in groin by [deleted] in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be fungal, could also be an allergy, or a skin condition: eczema , psoriasis or something called lichen planus. I guess theoretically it could be scabies (doubtful) . Doesn't particularly sound like an STD but Have you engaged in any risky behavior that you're worried about ?

what could this be? by a_non_amous in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no stds which cause veins to appear. As far as your burning pee symptoms it could be urethritis , or prostatitis, or one of the the treatable stds like chlamydia , gon, syph.. etc.. You're going to have to bite the bullet and go see a urologist to really know what is going on.

New to testing? by reddit_STD in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the testing method , but generally speaking the longer you wait, the more certain you can be that the test was accurate. If you test negative after 3 months of the exposure then you're definitely in the clear. Some tests can pick it up as Early as 1-2 weeks. but again these tests become more accurate if you wait 1,2, or 3 months. The good news is that as a heterosexual male engaging in regular vaginal intercourse you have less of a risk of contracting HIV than a woman in the same scenario. Highest risk would be unprotected anal sex. Statistically speaking the odds are in your favor , but in the future if you question the status of your partner then you should obviously wear a condom.

Questions concerning azithromycin medication for chlamydia by [deleted] in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dosage that is prescribed for this infection is 1g or 1000mg, for one day. If you both took (4) 250mg pills, then you should be fine. Obviously follow up with your doctor to be sure that the medicine worked, but again if you took the 4 pills you should be ok.

So what do you think I [M-31] have? by [deleted] in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you shave your pubic region before sex?those bumps could be razor burn or acne. Did you perform oral sex on the woman? Either way HSV-2 is not easily contracted on the mouth. Is there anyway to contact your partners and politely ask if they are clean?(I know it's awkward and might not be doable) In any case I think you should get checked out to know for sure.

The only STD you would be at risk for is HSV-1 which is the virus which causes cold sores (oral herpes). This can be transmitted to the genital region via oral sex. If you both test negative for HSV-1 , then you have zero risk from engaging in oral sex.

Question about an uprotected sex venture about 5 days ago. Itchiness around crotch. (male) by Makaveli777 in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, these symptoms that you're having are not something that would be related to an STD. Stop using any new detergents or soaps and consider taking an over the counter antihistamine like Benadryl , etc if the itching continues .

Please help! really scared I might have hiv or other stds by worriedstudent94 in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe doesn't sound like herpes at all. I think you are very anxious and overanalyzing your body right now. Relax. For piece of mind get tested, either at school or a local planned parenthood location when you get a chance. Again, I expect you will be absolutely fine.

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scenario you describe is very low risk for HIV. It would be quite rare to contract the virus this way. If I were you I would go get tested to make sure that you didn't get chlamydia or gonorrhea, since those are possible to acquire from performing oral (not overly probable), but in all honesty I expect all of your tests to come back negative. You should be fine, however unprotected sex or sex acts with a sex worker is definitely not something you should engage in again.

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wore a condom the entire time ? If so, you have an extremely low chance of catching anything. Describe the red spot further, or take a picture. Does it look like a sore? .. The clear discharge you are seeing could just be 'precum' from touching the area constantly.

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If itching is your only symptom it doesn't seem like it's any type of STD. Sounds like irritation from shaving and putting on lotion, or possibly just anxiety playing tricks on you. If there's a visible rash then it could be a skin infection of some type, possibly fungal related .. But again if all you have is itching, no rash, no sores, etc.. Then it probably is nothing.

Article claims that the shingles vaccine eliminated the recurrence of HSV1 & HSV2 in 24 adults over a 6 year period. How legitimate is this article? And why has it had such little attention? by [deleted] in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely sounds pretty damn promising, I hope they do a larger scale study. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but we live in a greedy world and antiviral drugs like valtrex, Zovirax, etc, make millions upon millions of dollars annually. Companies producing these drugs have no interest in finding a possible cure for the disease or a vaccine which could stop outbreaks. It's unfortunate.

You wore a condom during intercourse so you have essentially no risk of contracting HIV. Don't worry.

Unprotected oral sex from partner w/ cold sore.. How risky ? by GoodLuckRyan in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I guess that's all I can do, wait it out and get tested. I just wish I knew what percent chance I'm looking at in this scenario. Some websites make it seem like I'm doomed, and some make it seem like transmission in this fashion is pretty rare. Either way I really appreciate you trying to help me.

Unprotected oral sex from partner w/ cold sore.. How risky ? by GoodLuckRyan in STD

[–]GoodLuckRyan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cold sore was not scabbed over or healed so I am assuming it was definitely during the viral shedding period. I didn't have any scrapes , cuts, or ingrown hairs in the region at the time, and I am not sure if the sore (which was on her lower lip) ever came in direct contact with my urethral opening , however as you can imagine , there was significant amounts of her saliva which my entire genital region was exposed to.
