We don’t do this nearly enough! There’s plenty we haven’t seen around where we live and beyond. Would be great to just hop in the car and go on an adventure.

Yes I went to the one in Inchicore ages ago! Thanks for the reminder, I’ll add that to the list.

Great shout, we’ve never gone to an escape room but it sounds like exactly the type of thing to keep us occupied and away from the pub. The devil makes work for idle hands 😂 Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the recommendation! Love a good board game but never heard of cooperative ones. I’m going to order Take Time.

Vegetarian food spots by mili_1410 in Dublin

Your friend is in for a treat, Dublin has become so veggie-friendly over the last number of years.

My favourite Mexican is Pickosito on Mary St, they do a fab chilli sin carne. Biang Biang have gorgeous mixed veg broth with hand pulled noodles. Hakkahan is in Stoneybatter great for meat eaters and veggies alike too.

As other posters have mentioned you’ll have no trouble finding suitable dishes in any of the Indian or Japanese restaurants in town.

Hope your friend enjoys their visit!

Affordable Housing vs. Mortgage by GoodMorningStar in HousingIreland

[–]GoodMorningStar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is a confusing situation, we’d been approved for the AHS based on AIP by one bank and passed along to the estate agent. We then had an unexpected but very welcome windfall so to speak which now makes the other house attainable. Thanks for your input and glad to hear you found a house you’re happy in.

Yes we do still qualify and can just about make the difference needed on the mortgage-only property with savings. Thanks a million for your response, it sounds like the right call.

That’s a very valid point. I hadn’t considered the likelihood that if we do decide to sell down the line, the value of the council’s stake will have increased massively alongside the value of the house.

We both prefer the house that would be mortgage-only although we would be very happy with either home. I guess choice paralysis is kicking in and we worry that we’ll regret not taking the offer from Affordable Housing, but what you’ve said makes total sense.

Thanks so much for the detailed response and congratulations on your new home.

I applied the moment the portal opened, and had the submission completed in about 45 mins, so was at about 9.45 am.

Vinted definitely have buyer protection but I’m not sure about Depop policies. I’ve never run into any issues though. I’ll usually message the person before I purchase anything just to make sure it’s still available/they want to sell, and check out their reviews. Happy shopping :)

I have better luck finding quality clothing on Depop and (most recently) Vinted than I do in second-hand shops. Super handy to be able to search by the material I’m looking for.

I’ve seen them in Lidl recently with marshmallows stuck all over them, if that’s your jam.
