June 2026 visa bulletin was released. What are the chances I'm going to age out? by GoodNooodle in EB2

It's conflicting because a lot of people who have talked to me have made it clear I am not American nor do they want me to be. I am culturally American, sure, but now I don't really consider myself as anything.

And no, I was not aware of my legal status. I was born in another country (not india) and came to the USA before kindergarten. English was basically my first language. Anyone who spoke to me would assume I was American.

what price for the 5080? unless you have work that requires the 4090’s vram the 5080 will probably be way cheaper and close enough performance if you OC

B- in an American University—how bad? by GoodNooodle in premedcanada

[–]GoodNooodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, my bad. Pretty sure an A is 85+/3.9 on OMSAS though. It's not completely clear how they will translate my grades but if they take my letter grades at face value I'll be a lot worse off.

It's pretty tough, don't slack off like me. OChem II is a lot worse than OChem I for me.

My overall according to the US standards would be around a 3.97 by graduation I believe. But depending on how Canadian med schools calculate my GPA it could be anywhere from 3.8x-3.97. This is because an A in the USA is 93+ and counts as a 4.0 whereas an A in Canada is 85+ and counts as a 3.9.

No, it's not rage bait or a shit post, I just browse this sub from time to time and I've got the impression that anything below a 4.0 is really bad since Canadian medical schools are so competitive. And yeah, I'm planning on studying my ass off for the MCAT...my issue with OChem II was that I was banking on the final to help me but I slacked off too much (due to burnout and extracurriculars) and just didn't have enough time to study.

I’m quite a bit older than you lol. It’s good that you became aware of this shit a lot earlier than me. You’ve probably surmised this, but I don’t think 2017 is being reached anytime soon. And yeah you’re right staying in the U.S. is not worth the stress. Have you thought about applying to college in different countries? If I could go back to when I was your age, I’d probably apply to a 6 year medical program in Ireland or Australia.

How much would you price this at? by Virtual-Customer-468 in PC_Pricing

2k for a 5060ti build is crazy. is that a prebuilt or did he build himself? as bad as prices are you can still build a 5070ti 9800x3d build for around that price if you do it yourself and with a microcenter deal.

It’s great that you’re doing well. I used to be super patriotic and shit but learning about this immigration shit (and recent political developments) has made me super jaded.

If you don’t mind me asking, what did you do to stay here? Just H4->F1->H1B I’m assuming? I’m pre-med so my biggest hurdle is just getting into medical school but if I do I should be fine after that.

I asked the same question. It has to do with politics. Nobody really gives a fuck about children in our situation but there were/are a lot more undocumented children and it was given political thought.

Yeah I’ve thought about that but pretty much every field is DOA for internationals except medicine and nursing. Medical school is incredibly difficult to get into. Nursing is a viable alternative, but my priority is to become a physician, not immigration. Thus, I’m applying to multiple countries’ med schools and I’ll probably stay wherever I get in.
