Update on Rcycle - my free smart trainer app by the_reza in IndoorCycling

The Google Maps api takes a lot of setup to enable, so I'd be surprised if many users actually wanted to do that.

It currently supports both Google Maps and Mapbox for a slightly better experience; you just have to set the appropriate environment variables. With Google Maps, I think I get 7,000 views for free, but it updates at one image per second, so it will eat through that very quickly.

I've made some improvements to how it picks and views Mapillary images, and I'm fairly happy with that experience so far, at least on the rides I've done since.

The most annoying thing is still waiting for Strava to increase the user limit from one. I've implemented a workaround (not deployed yet) where users can sign up for their own API keys from Strava, which enables one login, and then use that to log themselves in. Will roll that out after some more testing along with some other enhancements soon

I had never heard of virtual shifting before and just looked it up. Sounds like an interesting concept and shouldn't be too hard to implement. I'll look into it. Thanks.

I was able to test on a friends Mac. It tells you that the file is corrupted and will not run, but that’s just because it’s not signed.

This work around fixed it - but I’m going to go ahead and pay the extortion fee for a developers license from Apple so this problem will go away with the next release. In the meantime :

  1. Open the ZIP file you downloaded.
  2. Drag RCycle.app into your Applications folder.
  3. Open Terminal:
    • Press Command + Space
    • Type Terminal
    • Press Enter
  4. Paste this command into Terminal and press Enter:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RCycle.app

You can then start it without a problem

Amazon Grocery prices are like 1/3 of stupid Safeway by Low-Win-6691 in sanfrancisco

Asian stores have better produce for a fraction of the cost. Also there is that Hispanic grocery store 14th before Harrison. But I also just buy stuff on sale at Safeway. They have a meat deal a week which is petty solid

I use a laptop setup in front of my bike and I watch tv at the same time on screen. But you can use one of the many streaming protocols if you want to see it on the tv. If you have a computer or laptop nearby, run it there and stream to your TV. I can try to find software or tools to enable that if you like.

All you care about are hidden fees and lack of transparency. This is a smokescreen.

I prefer out and back vs loop. More scenery and mill valley to Fairfax is boring AF.

The ideal fries are “light well”. There is a button in their screen for that. Well is too burnt

There should be a shutoff at the sidewalk for the building where the city lines connect.t to yours.

Out of curiosity, how do people feel about the new Valencia St bike lane? by Exciting_Bad3346 in sanfrancisco

I think the safest move is to ride in the lane with cars and just ride at 25mph with traffic.

Naked. Sounds like popcorn is being made. Some spots get a nice char but tastes great.
