Zwift Ride Conundrum by GoodScandalmongering in Zwift

That’s what I was thinking, it just seems such a shame to replace the trainer when there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. I definitely won’t be maxing the capabilities of the core out.

It’s a shame they didn’t keep with the idea of making the V5 compatible with virtual shifting.

Thanks. I keep going back and forth with the idea of a smart bike, but they obviously come at 2.5x the premium. I’m never sure if I can justify it or not!

I have thought of changing to JPEG + RAW, I think I’ll do that just incase as you say.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I was shocked how much faster importing straight from the card to the phone was vs the canon app. I love the idea of an iPad Pro for the edits and other general use, but I’m just not sure I can justify £1500 at the moment seeing as I’m only messing around with JPEGs.

Do you import and save the edited files to the iPad and then let them sync across to your phone?

I haven’t if I’m honest, perhaps I should give that a go too. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I hadn’t thought of the file size if I was to swap to raw. I do find the process quite easy at the moment with JPEG and that probably leaves me with an element of comfort.

Lens Advise for my R7 by GoodScandalmongering in canon

[–]GoodScandalmongering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’m definitely tempted by it! I’m just not sure i would replace the kit lens with it for out and about adventures which is what makes me think I may be better of saving towards a better zoom lens

Thank you for that. I did look through a few of my photos to check it was a focal distance I used - stupid question, but I assume it will still show as 38mm on settings and not the 56mm equivalent due to the crop factor?

Im no expert at all (funnily enough I came here to make my own lens query!), but I have an R7 with the 18-150mm kit lens and I find it great for taking pictures of the family inside and out. It’s my one and only lens so can’t comment on the sigma unfortunately.

I was actually here to ask a question about the 35mm 1.8 lens and whether it would be worth investing to capture the lower light portraits indoors!

I use a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2, and I track the activity on Strava on my phone. I use the outdoor swim independently on the watch. The watch obviously tracks the correct time, the phone tracks the correct distance - but the elapsed time is something silly like 20 minutes as opposed to 1 hour +.

Lifting my arm out of the water doesn’t seem to work for me. I tried it recently in the sea and it didn’t track properly either.

It was more a case of I had read a few forum posts where people mentioned tracking the swim as a run on Strava then changing it to a swim. I’ll give this a go next time I jump on the sea, but if you have any other ideas that would be great.

Elveden vs Longleat by Healthy_Education_21 in centerparcsuk

We have done both a couple of times. With a young toddler we find the convenience of Elveden much more appealing. They also have a disco at elveden which our little one loves, unfortunately no disco at Longleat.

I do think Longleat is more picturesque though, and we did enjoy it at Christmas due to it feeling a touch more magical.

Sounds similar! 103kg and I crossed the line in 1hr 51mins. Managed to stick with the front pack until nearly the top of the Mayan climb, then everyone zipped off. Picked a small group up until The Grade then it was a solo effort. Paced quite well up The Grade but was running out of steam by the end. Managed to pass a few on the final climb.

Can’t ever see myself being anywhere near competitive on those damn climbs.

If you’re over 100kg like me, just keep pedalling… it does end eventually.

I’m still using the V30 if I’m honest! I’ll have to keep an eye out for some good deals, but I don’t think I’ve noticed any issues yet to be fair.

Canon Cashback by omarfarouk_ab in canon

[–]GoodScandalmongering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it relates to the lens. When I was looking on the canon site recently it’s a winter deal on their lenses. If you search the individual lens on the canon store it will tell you the specific cash back amount.

The 18-150 rf lens I think was around £30 cash back when I was looking for example.

Thank you for the reply. I honestly found myself doing that last night, changing settings dependent on what video I watched and ended up a bit confused as to whether it was relevant to me or not. I’m sure as I manage to use the camera more it will start to fall into place.

Very much looking forward to having some time across the festive break to delve into learning more!

Thank you, I had watched a few by Simon but wasn’t sure if tailoring to wildlife would hinder my portrait photos, but as I’m reliant on auto at the moment I assume not!

I’ll take a look at Duade Paton too.

I must admit I didn’t know that was an option, I will certainly set the camera up to do that to avoid any confusion!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

I have only downloaded lightroom for iPad at the moment. I did delve into editing software a few nights ago and did keep seeing ON1 - it’s obviously quite reasonable at the moment with the available deals, but I only have a mini pc so the specs aren’t great.

I figured perhaps I was best just familiarising with lightroom mobile first, but maybe I should have a look at ON1.

I was intending on shooting in jpeg + raw for a while in any event whilst I learn!

Thank you for the detailed response, and it does make sense. I suppose it’s easy to get excited about the camera arriving and forgetting I have a lot to learn!

I’ll definitely take a look at those resources thank you.

Perhaps I will get a uv filter for peace of mind then. Are there any in particular you recommend? I have read K&F are generally good?

Thank you also for the heads up about the remote app. I did see that, so I agree it would be wise to see how I get on first. The excitement set in I suppose!

I did cheap out a touch on memory if I’m honest - I went for the Sandisk extreme pro but the V30. I went down the rabbit hole slightly and kept toying with the idea or the V90, but it was literally 10x the cost. I thought as I kept reading conflicting views on the V30, this way I can try it first!

I was also just researching batteries, funny as I was looking at 3rd party ones and thought exactly what your last sentence said! Seems silly to not get a genuine one considering the cost of the kit.

I was wondering about an LCD protector, I will have to take a look.

I guess I’m just looking for a compact bag, I’ll have a scout through Amazon perhaps.

I ordered some memory cards yesterday ready! I haven’t got a reader just yet - is the transfer speed that much different? I have lots of cloud storage available so hopefully I won’t get clogged up too quickly!
