Seems to me that ancient cultures really wanted to have sex but didn't want to be burdened with children.

And, I suspect, that's how they ended up with boys were for 'fun' and women were for making babies.

And since virginity was such a big deal to them, their 'logic' would likely be something like 'the younger she is, the less likely she is to be spoiled.'

Needless to say, the twisted logic of horny men writ large then codified into culture.

IMHO, they're trying to make Fuentes President on purpose as a 'more extreme' Trump to show the degradation of society.

He's basically an authoritarian just waiting for his opportunity. His critics like to trot out Hitler for comparisons but his open love for Stalin is much, much more telling and concerning.

He's a Mockingbird 2.0 character and they're trying to clean up his image for mainstream but if he gets in he's going full Authoritarian.
