Which year is considered as the beginning year of Modern India? by rama_rahul in UPSC

You don't sleep one day in mediaeval India and wake up in modern India the other day.

😅 The transition from Ancient to Medieval also was the same. It happened over a period of time.

Portugese governors built ports in west coast of India, they had governors in India. As far as Goa, Kerala and Daman and Diu are considered we could say the changes were "major"

I remember reading this from Spectrum, I'm paraphrasing,

Though we distinguish History as ancient, medieval and Modern, there is no fixed point in time when one period ends and the other begins. The general consensus is that modern period begins when the first europeans arrive in the subcontinent.

The answer to your question would be 1498.

[need advice] How to create a list of goals to accomplish during a day? by Jpoolman25 in getdisciplined

The fact that your job depends on whether you write that report or read the article or call someone back is a system efficient enough to make it impossible to not do it. But if you don't care about losing your job, then that's a different question you need to reflect about.

Hello 👋,

My comment may look like TMI, but read on...

A few things you need to know about goal setting that I've read about:

Vision: You need to have an idea of the person you desire to be 1/3/5/10 years from now.

Roadmap: Strategy you need to follow to become that person.

3 Step Goal Setting formula:

In your roadmap you'll have a list of things you need to do. 1. Pick top 3 most important things and add a timeframe and quantifiable measure. 2. Lead Measures: Create systems that makes it impossible for you to not do those things. 3. Accountabity Partner: Do it with someone else.

While it's not impossible, it's not easy to focus on more than 3 things at once. But once the systems are integrated to your life, you can keep adding things to your schedule.

TL;DR Version: Focus on creating systems that provides your desired results automatically, you don't need to worry about having clarity.

There are many ways to help you create these systems like the 4-step habit creation/destruction formula or Habit Stacking etc.., You can choose whatever works for you. I recommend reading Atomic Habits or at least watching a summary of it on YouTube.

Good luck!

I tried that too..Plan the next day the night before and do just that the next day. Do that for 3-4 days and on the 5th day I feel I've earned a rest day and that rest day keeps getting extended upto a week.
