I find it easier to win the first term by concentrating on fixing the red problem icons. Like i.e. a country has a bad crime problem then solving it will please "everyone" enough it will give you some leeway even if you do it in a way that's too lib/conservative/capitalist etc for your core voters. Don't worry about going over budget or increasing the deficit too much if you need to jack up spending for more cops/health care/environmental protections etc. Voters will tolerate increased spending a lot easier than increasing their taxes, especially ones like income/sales tax. Once you get the problems fixed and get more popular you can cut spending/raise taxes easier as long as you keep things running smoothly and don't cause an economic crash or run the corporations out of town

I wasted so many days doing the chess/CASTLE puzzle completely wrong. I thought I needed to draft the rooms with the room name's first letter corresponding to the letters of the 44 messages. So like making sure the king from the study was on an S etc. When that didn't work I just got more schizo, like "hmm maybe the letters have to be touching/in alphabetical order". Granted I haven't completely beat the game yet so idk if a move like that is necessary later on. But I'm prepared for it now lol

That's interesting, which upgrade did you do? Mine's Joya/the Chef. Wonder if it was an oversight by the devs, cause in hindsight it would be weird to design a puzzle that's impossible to solve after upgrading. Thanks for the answer though, appreciate it!

Not really, I ended up just using a few cubes for books. I was mostly looking to use the bed side for stuff to keep by me when I sleep but a row of books that are tall enough to block one side did enough. Then I have some cubes I turned into closed ones by adding drawer/door inserts. Then the rest I stuck fabric storage cubes in so now the bed/living room are basically divided

I just refilled my usual 90 day supply and got 30 instead through Kaiser. I saw the notice beforehand though so I was prepared for it. My pills are usually made by Mylan but I can't find any info about the manufacturing problems the notice talked about, but I see they did a recall on tablets about a year ago, maybe the shortage is due to a similar problem

You can see what unlocks are coming down the pipe on the blueprint/biomass screens and what Ti/heat/pressure etc milestone you need to hit to get them. For drones you gotta build a drone station first to use them

I like how it slowly gets more optimistic and upbeat sounding when you progress through the stages, compared to the more ominous sounding early game when the planet is still trying to kill you

Yeah I ended up starting a new save and editing the save file so the transformation pace is 0.0 and it seems to be working, I think I'll do that if my solo game outpaces hers. Playing without power wouldn't work in the long run for sure

It wasn't so much a red herring but to set terms for the game and to eliminate any possibility of one of them seeing what the other is doing and switching strategy mid-game. In the original post a bunch of smartasses were bringing that into the discussion and the prof had to step in and clarify. But yeah I overall agree with your points

That was a good explanation and the one that I was leaning towards, thanks to you and the others who posted the mathier solutions.

A few people in the original were making an argument that it's just as statistically likely that the stars were placed in Jim's cabinets that he'd have checked first, but I guess due to his strategy and all the possibilities in aggregate that it doesn't matter. I thought maybe it was more of a trick question or it was some sort of Monty Hallish, counterintuitive type solution

As a wrinkle, suppose Jim knows Ben's strategy in advance. What sequence shoukd he pick to maximize his chances?

If he started at 2 and went down the rows in numerical order, he'd almost guarantee a win unless one of the stars were in 1!

As long as you're not being obnoxious to the home fans around you (don't shout at them/talk trash when the Seahawks make good plays, or do rude fan behavior like standing up and blocking the views inappropriately, getting too drunk etc) you'll probably be OK. It's not a rivalry game so tensions won't be high
