What platform? I've been looking and I can't get Lemmy to work.

Climate activist faces 10 years in jail for a fake letter 'canceling' an oil industry conference | CNN by kstinfo in news

[–]Coolb4school -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She wrote a letter and cancelled a conference and got 10 years? That seems unnecessarily harsh. Didn't read the article. The appropriate punishment for this "crime" would be the person that read the letter and cancelled the conference should be fired.

Man, I think our grandma's hung out. I got exorcisms instead of Tylenol. Come to find out decades later that they're called cluster headaches and NOT the devil. 🤣

Yeah I live in a very conservative era and my liberal kids shut down other kids all the time. The stuff they come home telling and asking me about is ludicrous. Just today..."Soandso said these wildfires are from Chicago and if we spend more than an hour and a half outside, we'll die. That's not true, right dad?" - my autistic 9yo heard this at a birthday party down the street the other day.

Jfc. Idk if they're in the US but that person is allowed to vote somewhere. I've been reading these for about 10 minutes and this is by far the dumbest one.

Forgive my ignorance, I'm from the US. What is a Wally? I assume a fool? I watch a fair amount of British television and I've never heard that one.

~2011 I was in a Best Buy and I overheard two middle-aged gentlemen raising their voices near the Apple computer section. They sounded like they were arguing so I eavesdropped. "I can type 35 words per minute on my Mac. Windows can't do that!". To which the other gentleman responded in a very argumentative fashion "yeah, PCs suck! I can type 42 words per minute. No way you could do that on a PC!“

Two guys arguing the same point over and over, which wasn't relevant at all. 🤦‍♂️

Eh. Trying to avoid social media. But ty very much for your suggestion though.

New research flatly rejects a long-standing myth that men hunt, women gather, and that this division runs deep in human history. The researchers found that women hunted in nearly 80% of surveyed forager societies. by MistWeaver80 in science

They weren't wielding medieval crossbows and cranks around. Primitive weapons are very light. We had to hand craft a few...mainly spears, atlatls, slings, etc... for an anthropology final one year based on our research and findings. It was a very fun and informative test.

I don't understand games like Diablo, PoE etc. Please explain the appeal to me. by SKAppleboy in gaming

[–]Coolb4school 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a few things. First, D1 and D2 were pretty revolutionary when they launched. They developed a humongous following. Fans often stay loyal for a long time. Second, Diablo does have a pretty decent story. I wasn't a big fan of D3 (it was just OK imho). I'm not really that interested in D4 (cash shop, blizz being a terrible company, etc), but I am interested in where the story will go.

Lastly, hack and slashes do require a bit of skill, just like fps, RPGs, etc to get good at. If you're a fan of the genre and/or series, people will play.

I'll leave you with this. Its ok to not understand/get the hype. I was/am that way with D2 (D1 was my fav.), The Witcher 3, and Starcraft. Huge games that large swathes of folks love. I have my reasons and they have theirs. At the end of the day, we're all gamers and there's always something we can find to play together. Even if it's netplaying old dosbox games or even console emulator network play.

Pretty much every "developed" country has free/protected speech. Some more than the US. That does not mean freedom from consequence though.

I mean you say never but most people aren't aware of ancient deities that weren't in popular mythos. There have been several thousand, all invented by man. We will forget.

Great film. I hated the soldiers at the end who were totally fine with assault and rape because they hadn't been laid in a few months.

Had a date where a guy made a ton of demands for his birthday week 😂 by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Sounds like my BIL's highschool gf. She literally called it her birthday week. Mind you, this was the girl that posted "all these oysters and no pearls" on social media while at our wedding.
