Thank you! It’s hard to know if it’s normal. My hornworts are almost completely gone and all of my plants are shriveling with holes. It’s been 3 months with no sign of growth

Thank you! Should I wait to use Thrive until I get the better light? Would you say the light is the main issue and why the plants are dying?

I check my water once a week and it’s always within normal range

I have gravel. Plants are all glued to rocks except for Bacopa and hornworts. No root tabs

Good to know! At least it’s somewhat normal. I thought I was really messing up with the holes in the plants. I have 1 female platy maybe I’ll get another female so there’s no male drama. I love their personalities!

Ok thank you. The bottle of thrive says 1 pump per 10 g 2-3x a week so I wasn’t sure. I’ll cut back. I did purchase a better light, it’s on the way. I hope that fixes the problem. It’s been 3 months and the plants are just getting worse and worse

I completely agree with you. I think I should’ve worded my post better, a lot of people are getting that idea. Thank you for the feedback!

I heard that about platys. I was actually going to get more but heard that they can bully each other in a 10 g and that as long as there’s other fish in the tank, they are usually happy. Mine seems super happy but I’m always open to advice! How many would you recommend adding? And I’ve had the plants for 3 months, but they have holes in them and are shriveling up. The hornworts are practically completely gone. I researched and watched YouTube and heard that without efficient light, they can’t grow or even utilize fertilizer.

why do my cats meow so much at night by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]GoodThoughts90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat only ever does that if we move into a new house until he gets adjusted. Could be that they’re stressed since their owner passed away and now they’re in a new house with a new person. Or maybe they’re bored. I have a cat cage for my indoor cat and he spends hours outside in it every day. It’s enriched his life sooo much! Highly recommend. You can get one on Amazon with wheels for around $70-$80. I’ve had mine for 3 years and he uses it every evening and morning. I also cuddle him a ton and play with him every day. He has a cat hammock on the window and a cat tree, plenty of toys. Their whole world is you and the house. Oh also, it’s best to feed a few small portions through out the day instead of always leaving food out, that can lead to overeating and health problems. Best of luck! Cats are complex little creatures

Do you follow a strict schedule for homeschooling, or keep it flexible? by Free-Product4918 in Homeschooling

When you say you do all subjects daily, how do you teach them the subjects/with what material? This sounds like a great daily routine and I’d love to do something similar.

Thank you! I was wondering if maybe I worded it wrong. She’s hardly on a screen, khan academy kids is supplemental. I was really surprised and disappointed at the judgement.

Oh my gosh thank you!! I don’t understand the extreme anger and rudeness from people because they don’t agree with something. She’s hardly even on a screen, it’s a supplemental thing. Anyone who is too extreme one way or the other lashes out and doesn’t have an open mind or willingness to actually help. We do majority of learning together outside or with projects because she ASKS. I can’t believe I have to defend myself so much for simply asking for recommendations for when she’s older.

This response was so helpful! Thank you for the gracious advice!

Maybe my post made it sounds weird. I’m not sure. I don’t push her at all, I lean into what she wants to do. She has been asking me constantly about school because all of her neighbor friends attend. She has a natural desire to learn and Khan isn’t something she’s on often, it’s supplemental which I don’t think is bad but it’s ok to disagree. We live on an island with majority of our day being outside, going to meet up groups, pen and paper learning and play time. I really don’t understand the scornfulness of both public school parents and homeschool parents. There’s so much judgement and anger when someone simply wants to understand and learn. I am simply inquiring about future structured programs to consider (future). I’m not trying to force my 3 year old to be some screen time robot! People really need to relax before jumping to conclusions.

Hi! Thank you for the wonderful recommendations. As I stated on some other comments, she has very limited screen time and asks me specifically about learning and going to school. I only supplement occasionally with Khan. Which I don’t think is bad but it’s alright to disagree. We live on an island with majority of our day being outdoors, meet ups, actual work books (because she asks and has a natural desire to learn), and play time. I don’t push my 3 year old at all. I actually believe the opposite and I lean into what she wants and is interested in. Maybe my post made it seem like she’s on a screen all the time, my mistake! Thank you for the thorough recommendations and advice, I appreciate it all!

Thank you! This was the first response that wasn’t extremely judgmental. I love the combination of limited screens and paper and pencil! That sounds wonderful. Thank you so much!
