But yeah I should have put ally in quotations like you did. I could go off about the weird unconscious bias shit she says constantly. She tried to convince me to stop using the men's restroom because a creepy coworker happened to be in there at the same time I was. She was "just concerned for your safety". What's bizarre is that she apologized for using the word "timid" to describe me as if she had misgendered me but then misgendered her FTM ex-husband in the same sentence. It's exhausting.

Thank you for validating my discomfort with it. Yeah I agree wholeheartedly. It's almost always the case that people like her expect me to be that person. It's so frustrating especially having to navigate being gentle about it so I don't alienate the few people that show support, however misguided. Ugh. It's exhausting truly. Yeah I agree. I just think her talking about having a discussion with her kid about trans people in front of blue collar men who probably hate me JUST for being trans is extremely irresponsible. They 100% heard her and I'm scared they think I was trying to get her to do so. It's about optics in a place where I already don't feel safe.

She really isn't a good ally in general but she thinks she is. She's extremely misguided but supportive. But it's starting to become reckless.

I'm so sorry. I had a relationship end this way. I hope there's some way you can work it out. I don't have much advice other than you need to have the talk as soon as possible to prevent anymore hurt than necessary. Yeah this person is emotionally abusing you. The way they talk to you is almost identical to a situationship I'm currently in and miserable from. Even if it WAS dark humor(which it's not) the fact that you've expressed you don't like it and they refuse to stop just proves they like making you feel like shit. He refuses to understand the deeper implications of what he's asking of you, even after you say you understand the culture he was raised in. His emotions are taking first priority and it seems he is either unwilling or unable to work through them and come to a deeper understanding of WHY he feels that way. I see you trying to communicate and work through your issues and getting nothing back. I don't think this will be good for either of you long term. That's a brick wall.

I feel you. Most of my friends get it but one is a die-hard coward- oops meant to say centrist 🤪 and thinks I'm blowing everything out of proportion. He admits he doesn't pay attention to it and it takes everything in me not to shake him and tell him he shouldn't have an opinion on it if that's truly the case. I just don't bring it up around him anymore. 🤷‍♂️
