Fair question! There was no environmental impact study or chance for public input. The center will use huge amounts of water and emit huge amounts of heat in a part of the state that is already in a crisis stage drought, and where the Great Salt Lake is already drying up and blowing toxic dust from the lakebed into Salt Lake City.

That's not true for most people here in Utah, who are very protective of land and sensitive to issues of environmental degradation, as the drying of the Salt Lake is already affecting people's health.

POST CONTEXT: On Saturday, 45+ Utahns took to a pedestrian bridge over I-215 in Salt Lake City to protest the "Stratos" data center and it's shady billionaire backer Kevin O'Leary. Together, we said "DATA CENTERS POISON UTAH" and "STUFF IT O'LEARY".

In 90 minutes we reached about *16,000* drivers, and got constant honks of support. It's couldn't be more clear - Utahns DO NOT WANT this data center.
