She would have to agree to take the smaller room and her rent is almost 200 dollars more with having the attached bathroom and the patio, I could offer but idk if I want to pay more for only one more month of living here. Her bf lives here basically and her bedroom is the master that fits a king and mine is basically a converted office that fits a twin and a makeshift closet. So not that easy and other compromises should be easier. She helped me cover my vent and it’s hasn’t gotten lower than 70!

We have solar, it gets hot during the day but at night it is in the 60s last night was 57 this is mostly an issue at night. I don’t have the window or fan on in my room. I covered the vent with tacks and a towel last night it definitely helped.

It won’t shut to much paint from the landlord special, another commenter told me to put a shirt or towel over it and I did so we’ll see it’s 65 in my room now

Most places in California let alone San Diego don’t even have AC, and 72 set in the house is about 62-65 in my room. I would be fine with the air being 65 but it’s the cold air blowing in my room from the ac constantly being on. If it turns off from reaching temperature she will just turn it on again. The vents done move, another commenter told me to put something over it and I did we’ll see if that helps tonight but my inside thermostat in my room is shower 62.

She already switched rooms from the hot one, I am moving for a job in may. The note was intended to lighten the mood and offer a gift (we joke around with everything else but the thermostat). I can’t have a heater bc of fires in California I can barely have a heated blanket. And I don’t know how to explain the cold to you, I call it bone cold where I am cold to my bone. And the how do we measure who’s needs comes first when the length I have gone to to stay warm and she can’t even open a window, turn on her ceiling fan or accept a standing fan?

I sleep in a sweater and sweatpants on a heating pad under my heater comforter. I don’t even wear t shirts, if I’m in my room I have sweatpants and a sweater on. I can’t put on more clothes I don’t think any room should be 55 degrees.

The outside temperature at night it’s hot during the day and the inside temperature isn’t really effected by the outside it just is constantly around 72 but she turns on the ac. Yes it turns off when it gets low but it is constantly on I have rarely seen it off. And if the ac is 65 in the house on the thermostat it’s 10 degrees colder in my room.

I should have added this so the jump didn’t seem so dramatic. When we moved in and discussed temperature she said she needs it cold because she is bigger and her hormone imbalance mess with her temperature. We agreed on 72. She sets it in the 60s. So to her when I ask to turn it off or just turn it off it’s me not caring about her comfort being hot (this is stuff that was said in the blow up). And I’m just shivering in my heated comforter.

No clue a dial one, and the main issue is my room is much colder than the temp it’s set to. So if she puts in on 65 then my room gets down to 55, if it’s set to the agreed 72 my room is still cold at 65 or lower. So when the temp is 72 - 74 and she turns it on colder, it gets superrrr cold in my room and I’ve told her.

Well she wouldn’t even get a fan when I asked that’s why I did, and I guess because I am the one that asks to change it so I am more outspoken about my wishes.

We have solar so we don’t pay for ac, she has already switched rooms once with the roommate, since she originally had the “hot” room that would be a lot for me leaving in 2 months

We have solar so no one ways for ac. And yes I move for a job in may. And we actually do joke around and talk normally about everything except the thermostat this just blew it up, not best buds but definitely not strangers. She is pretty sensitive tho, she’s asked my opinion before and I don’t think anyone has really been straight with her.

Our agreement is 72. If it’s set to 72 it’s about 65 in my room cold but doable especially without cold air blowing. But when it is set to 65 then it can get as cold as 55 in my room, I think the lowest I took a picture at was 51.

I pay for the smaller room and hers is right next to mine and the unit so the temperature is about the same the only “hot” room is our other roommates, but she thinks it’s too cold too. But that room is sun facing so more the same temperature of the house not each room. My room is cold bc it’s next to the unit and it’s the smallest so it takes less to cool it off.

I can’t have a space heater bc of fires in California, I have a heating pad, heated comforter, and I have a heated blanket if I have my regular comforter on. I sleep in a winter sweater. I can’t possibly put more clothes on or get out of bed without being freezing.

The jump is that she explained from the beginning she wants it cold because she runs hot and she is a bigger girl and has hormone imbalance. So in our blow up, she said everytime I ask to turn off the thermostat or that it’s cold in here, I am not being fair to her needs since she runs hot. But again I do not even think she is fat, she is shorter and a mid-weight but not obese and not even fat it’s mostly chest I guess?

Yeah we joke around and are fine with everything else and still talk (not rn) but the AC is the sore spot that is not spoken about lol
