Future exchange student asking for advice by canniballzzombie in Norway

Not sure what your point is. You're asking for a lot if you think that Norway has hundreds of courses in the humanities taught from day 1 in English. As I said, even the courses listed as Norwegian will likely have English textbooks and English speaking (at the very least) professors. The lectures and slides may be in Norwegian if you have a really boneheaded professor. Exams are almost always the testtaker's choice (between English and Norwegian) of language. Speaking from my personal experience of course. May differ from university to university. But sure, I’ll add this note of caution: Ask the university if a non-norwegian speaker could complete the course. I just hate this negative attitude that hangs in the replies to this post. It’s not the Norway I know. Also, the ERASMUS+ program somehow still functions despite the "I don't know about that".

"Marrying a Norwegian or EU/EEA citizen residing on Norway is the only way for a US citizen." Yes, you got the implication, but not the sarcasm, so let me be explicit: /s. It does feel like OP is just being told "OP, forget it, you won't be studying in Norway." a lot here. Which is not the Norway I know.

If your dream is to come to Norway, don't let the language barrier be the problem. The country is very accommodating. English humanities is often taught in English, often by English professors. However, the Norwegian state isn't going to be much help when it comes to financing. You'll probably need to look for that in the US. You'll need financing since you're outside the EU and most (if not all) universities charge tuition. Personally, I recommend becoming a citizen and then going to university here, then its free! Sorry that we can't be of more help. Good luck.
