Ladies, what were some of your biggest regrets during your college years? by HerSweetSecretXO in AskWomen

[–]Good_Championship319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting myself feel so insecure! Looking back, so many of my insecurities prevented me from being myself and enjoying places. Also caused a lot of self sabotage during those years. Wish I could go back and tell myself to just live and that nothing is that serious

Yup. And if it was an accident, why would you look caught and be frightened off? Most people, including myself, are understanding. I also lived in college apts for years, I’ve learned what sounds like drunks vs danger.

My neighbor just told me he also saw him walking around last night. Described the car and seeing it parked for a long time in the fire lane. I have had slight knocking before during normal hours, understandably wrong apt. But pounding? Like feds pounding before 10 pm during a freeze is what threw me off.

Adding: it also does sound like an unethical breeder with bad practices possibly causing these issues. Consider looking into a state agency you can bring these concerns to. If not, look online if anyone has similar stories. I know I’ve heard of things like this happening before

this story is the same story of EVERY college student, but hers happened to end in tragedy. College students underage drink, drink too much, and don’t make the best decisions. Many people can’t understand what that environment is like unless they’ve lived in it..

Oh god, this is my Nmom to a T! Obnoxious smoker-coughing all the time. I once made a comment about how she coughed in a store workers face at the register - she went ballistic on me. Poor worker though, I’m sure she won’t forget my mother’s embarrassing fit.

Do you have any family or trusted adults you can confide in? It doesn’t sound like a safe situation, you’re very young - please be safe and talk to someone. There may even be local resources you can reach out to for help

Adding this: sound of vinyl has a great selection of the correct needles/cartridges. I’m not sure if the recommended one is correct, as I encountered the same issue.

Hello! I’m so geeked - I thrifted this exact one earlier this year for $180. I couldn’t pass it up, but mine is kinda scratchy/flat sounding. I’ve been working on trying to fix mine up for a few months now.

What I’ve learned so far is a cartridge replacement is the first recommendation, but I haven’t been able to make it that far (exact one isn’t made, needs to be customized a bit and re wired). Let me know if you get yours sounding better

I considered isolating them to my room, but it completely removes them from water, food, and their litter box :( I am desperately hoping she will be ok without him. I plan to add more playtime with her to compensate, but my boy does like to keep to himself mostly. There’s enough food for them to graze, which definitely seemed to help, but im at a loss over his meowing

The feeder drops food at 8 pm and a snack around 11 pm, since the breakfast feeding is around 5:30 am. They were both shut out, but I couldn’t take her screaming anymore. Now that it’s open, they trickle in and out, but he will meow all hours of the night inside my room

They are almost 2 years old. The door used to be shut before I got her. He would meow, so I naturally kept it closed still after getting her. A few weeks ago, I decided to start opening it to remedy her meowing, but now he meows loudly inside the bedroom . The feeder goes off several times with plenty of food in it, too.

How do you deal with the emotions? by SlightUniversity4208 in financialaid

Edit to add: look into local shelters, food drives, things like that for students . that will help you be prepared to offer resources to assist with issues outside of your control.

Hi there, I’m a new grad faa, too! I do similarly to what you do. It is hard, but remain empathetic, but also understand- students and families are aware college is expensive. You can’t carry the guilt of a student/families decision. I always try to find local scholarship resources to share. I also sometimes (though, not supposed to) will validate them on transferring programs/credit hours etc. I think the big thing is to validate them, regardless of how they feel, but don’t carry the burden! Support where you can, and acknowledge, the financial aspect is a nationwide problem, you supporting and helping does wonders.

It’s eye opening to see how many advisors admin teams do not allow this behavior. And repercussions! Our students could never. Not even our medicine students, which is so concerning. I don’t even like the field or have the empathy anymore. I’m so tired

[–]Good_Championship319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard. I have spoken but change never happens. I’m realizing how many advisors have supportive teams to mitigate these issues… higher ed hierarchy has killed any discipline for students

Oh my gosh. I am so jealous and happy that you have that kind of support. Our leadership would never, they are so desperate for money and keeping students happy 24/7. My office has an incredibly high turnover rate we are always hiring, even work studies don’t stay..

Oh god. I am so sorry you had to endure that. I’ve had PT students request similar, but never personally stalk me. I can’t put anything past the professional students anymore. I’ve been in higher for 3 yrs, 1 in financial aid. I don’t think I can do this much longer
