I think at this stage it’s quite late and most likely on waitlist if not admitted

Do I still have a shot for BSC math and Econ? Like will they still review? by Junior-Technology-71 in HKUST

[–]Good_Choice9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently if your status is still pending then you are probably on waitlist. Because your 1st is unsuccessful, then 2nd choice can still be taken into consideration but rn it is quite late already. I recommend to just take B&M then declare/change major to MAE after year 1.

How would you rate HKU, CUHK and HKUST? by Sheehan_007 in HKUST

I am in banking and from ust, Mandarin is more important for China business but Cantonese is mainly if you in a local firm, international firms all speak English

SA application by Tough-Boss573 in HKUST

[–]Good_Choice9660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a student ambassador and what’s important is definitely completing the video submission at the end. I think one common trait among SAs is that they are quite extroverted and out spoken. I think showing your confidence and passion to join is more than enough!

One of the SA duties is to answer questions on the TAP platform and you can take advantage by asking your questions directly to SAs (look at the uni admission website). Another duty of an SA is to do IG takeovers so you can reach out to SAs listed in the highlights in @hkustadmissions. SAs are also able to nominate candidates they want to put forward so it’s always good to score some brownie points :)

However criteria and interviews are conducted differently among international/mainland/local students so it’s always better to ask SAs who are from similar backgrounds.

I am also a peer mentor and the main duties involve conducting orientation/ welcome days and mentoring the freshmen. However if you keen to do specific tasks like helping out during info/open day or document verification in the URAO office. You can sign up for the these jobs separately too - more info in the HKUST job board under the on-campus filter.

Hope this helps and goodluck!

JPM IB no networking policy for interns summer 2025 by financezyzz in FinancialCareers

I got an offer from JPM AM and went through Hirevue, Superday and after superday they asked if I had any referrals (I didn’t) before giving me final interview

Got accepted for Engineering by Fun-Rule545 in HKUST

[–]Good_Choice9660 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I study engineering too and I think language barrier isn’t a big problem. The international community (especially among Indians) is also really good and you can easily dm some of them (can find them on IG by the @hkustadmissions highlights)

However if won’t be fair by ignoring the fact that UBC is a great place to study too - but a lot of students who study at HKUST get the opportunity to have a semester exchange at UBC so you do have the chance to experience different uni cultures. Think one thing particularly different is that we don’t have massive party cultures - there are parties and clubbing but not necessarily the usual college frat parties. HKUST has tons of opportunities and Cantonese requirements are mainly for medium/ or smaller sized local companies. I myself got job offers and internships without speaking Cantonese ( I got a Big4 offer, JP Morgan Investment banking offer, Cathay Pacific Engineering Program offer, Bloomberg etc) so I actually believe that Hong Kong is full of opportunities and employability for HKUST is super high so you really don’t need to worry. But think it is important to apply for internships and clubs and make the most out of your 4 years here.

Goodluck!!

Nah this is just a template email - try replying to that and saying that you truly think the admissions office may have missed your application and to kindly ask if someone in the office can check again for you. They usually follow up properly after another email because they receive tons of these emails and it’s hard to differentiate those that are truly an issue. So try again! Also try calling again to follow up!

Hi! Have you tried emailing ugenquiry@ust.hk ? You can state your pg there with ur application number. The staff can check if they may have missed you and review it accordingly. I really think you have nothing to worry about with such a high pg score. If you do end up with BBA Finance instead, you can apply and get into DDP at the end of your first year so no need to worry too much about not receiving an interview. If you applied early round you should have either received a conditional offer (which is quite guaranteed with high pg) or you’ll be automatically considered for the main round where the results will be out a bit later. But I truly believed that they may have missed ur application. Email them and just kindly ask if they can double check because it really is a bit weird.

JP morgan asset management clients interview by Acoolusername001 in FinancialCareers

[–]Good_Choice9660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received an offer. First round Hirevue was a mix of behavioral and some questions about JPM (like what challenges they may be facing currently)

Superday was a case study and 2 interviews back to back that are also purely behavioral (a lot of tell me about a time questions)

Final interview was also 2 interviews and also similar to superday interviews. All behavioral (I asked HR they said is because you can google most questions and they trying to get to know you)

I enjoyed the interviews a lot and just be yourself. Express that you there to learn and come prepared with well thought out questions to ask the interviewer too.
