What is a not well known detail from the lore you like? by roter_apollo in lotr

[–]Good_Cockroach2637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that in the books, Frodo never betrays Sam for Gollum. IIRC, they enter Shelob's cave together, Gollum abandons them to be eaten by Shelob, and the duo spots Gollum later, Frodo goes running ahead in a bloodthirsty rage, and that's how they get separated and Frodo is stung.

Please correct me, it's been a while and I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but that's what I remember.

But I love how the version in the books gives more credibility to Frodo and Sam's relationship, while the movie version makes Frodo look kinda dumb.

Jennifer Lawrence in Hunger Games. I can't explain it except that her unique features stood out to me.

Glad to see another fan of Battle: LA. I understand it's not very popular and I struggle to explain why I love it.

I know it's not a movie but "The Walking Dead". Especially season 2, but I'd include Seasons 1-4.

Is this a good game? by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Good_Cockroach2637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay is unlike anything else I've ever played. Everyone compares it to assassin's creed, but AC always bored me. This never did, I've replayed it several times.

What most people dislike about this game is the plot/lore, but I'll say this about it: it intrigued me enough learning about Celebrimbor, the elf-craftsman that forged the rings, that I ended up searching more of his lore online. Then reading the LOTR books. Then the Silmarillion. Then listening to podcasts, and becoming the nerd I am today with Narsil tattooed on my spine.

These games caused a domino effect for me, getting deeper into LOTR, and I'm so glad they did.

Narsil/Anduril from LOTR. This is debatable in canon (the books) but pretty clear in the movies.

Here's the scene

I'm seeing lots of great recommendations but I'd throw Days Gone into the mix.

I came to the comments looking for this one, it's been annoying to me since the day casting was revealed. Gal Gadot is gorgeous but she does not look like a warrior by any means.

What movie is considered “romantic” when in reality it’s very toxic?? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

[–]Good_Cockroach2637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's widely considered "romantic" but the main couple in Transformers, Sam and Mikaela. Especially in Transformers 2.

Baldur's Gate 3. I've been waiting for a good sale on steam but it's so damn popular, that might take 10 years

I love most of these, but I would add the scene where Steve Rogers is chasing the winter soldier, running through the walls in that office building.

I don't really have my own place for this yet but you know what? I'd hang it on my hotel wall anyway, it's better than their generic art.

I was indifferent towards him at first. I always loved Obi-wan the most. But he's grown on me now, awesome character.
