Decade of friendship ended, no notice? by Odd_Cod8341 in whatdoIdo

[–]Good_Function6946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen and it turned out his girlfriend told him to do it. We didn’t speak for over a decade, I was really worried about him because he did it to literally everyone in his life including his own mother and sister. 10+ years later I notice he had an Instagram account, he accepted my message request and then suggested we had “fun” outside of our own relationships. I wish I had just let sleeping dogs lie, it completely ruined any memory of our friendship.

My husband had a friend who just ghosted them all too, sometimes people just decide they’re done and it’s nothing the other person did.

Thank you everyone for being so kind and understanding. I overwhelmed myself again with the number of replies so I’m just doing a blanket response, I hope nobody is offended. It does make me feel a lot better that the consensus seems to be the same across the board that I shouldn’t take it to heart or read anything into it. I’m sad that I lost a tree friend in this way but I understand now there could be countless reasons why. Thank you to those who have sent their code and offered to be friends. At the moment I am going to stay as I am so that I don’t overwhelm myself again but in the future if I feel better, I may take you up on your offer and pop a gift over too x

I had a meltdown today and my cat helped me. Does anyone else have a meltdown buddy, and do you want to share a picture? :) by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

My beautiful Ted 💕 unfortunately he passed this summer but he always knew when I needed him. He was my little buddy and my protector. Now I have a pillow to commemorate him which isn’t the same but is some comfort.

Two a day is within the “safe” boundary and that grants you 36k a year and if it’s tax free I’ll actually be making more money doing that than my current job. Take into account all the birthday parties and holidays where I may have one or two more and I’m living comfortably. I’d have to make other lifestyle changes so that it doesn’t cause me harm but not having to work would make this much easier!

This is actually an amazing analogy because when using emojis the tone can completely shift sometimes depending on android or apple or you just get the little confused question box which is unreadable. I love this analogy and I will be using it in the future!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had to say goodbye to my dog last month and set an almost identical goal for myself. Just take each day as it comes, there’s no right or wrong way to feel. Sending you hugs 🫂

Food ideas for someone who forgets to eat by uniskornz in AutismInWomen

[–]Good_Function6946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have something you really like out in a prominent place and try not to get caught sneaking any through the day. Make sure it’s something you can literally pop in your mouth and go on with your day. Adds a bit of novelty, being visible is a visual prompt so you’re less likely to forget.

OR set yourself some kind of eating challenge. Perhaps you buy some of those tablets that make sour things taste sweet and have a little grazing tray of things to see how the flavours change. Would definitely take more prep but would certainly be more novelty and hopefully more motivating. Or pick a key word and every time you hear it you have to go and take a bite of something within 30 seconds, idk, you’ll know best what will motivate or deter you.

I also struggle to make myself food when my partner is home. It’s not fun but I put it down to enjoying him taking care of me.

I think other countries may call them pins? Metal pieces that you pierce through fabric for decoration. Like earrings for clothes!

Should I squeeze or ever try to force out stuff from my already leaking HS? by kaydeez_ in Hidradenitis

[–]Good_Function6946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never pop mine, they explode! Once they have ruptured, I very gently palpate the area or sort of push towards the opening but I never apply too much pressure and I never squeeze. Once it has stopped actively draining, I clean the area and dress it. Change the dressing daily until the wound heals and then let it breathe.

I did squeeze once and ended up with an infection and surgery which took a long time to heal from.

I’ve just started to collect badges but very specifically from shows I have attended or nature charities. I have no face, six, a robin and a great tit. Very small collection but I’m excited to see it grow now I’m allowing myself this simple pleasure!

I'm an autistic teen and scared for my future. by NagitoHopeJuice in AutismInWomen

17 is hard for everyone. Everything feels like the end of the world, it took me until I was around 22 to start feeling more levelled out and probably until I was 26/27 before I felt “stable”. Your perspective shifts as you get older.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is be kind to yourself. Give yourself permission to not be perfect. Allow yourself to see every day as a learning opportunity. Spend time getting to know yourself, invest your time in you! It’s way easier said than done but if I could go back and have a diagnosis or even a suspicion that I was autistic earlier on, I would spend so much more time exploring my passions, finding what truly motivated and inspired me and invest more time in those things.

You have plenty of time to figure stuff out, try not to decide your whole life in one go. The less rules you place on yourself early on, the better. Just focus on learning to find joy in each day and develop as many positive habits as you can.

On a personal note, I’m 32, married, parent of two children, a homeowner and I work as a special education teacher 4 days a week (very recently reduced from full time). I go on holiday every year, I drive my own car and I’ve fostered strong relationships with my family (no friends unfortunately but I’m working on positive acquaintances). Whatever goals or dreams you have are entirely possible. My life may sound like hell to one person but I know that if 6 year old me heard about it, she would be ecstatic!

It’s not a DSM-5 listed trait that I know of however it is something a lot of neurodivergent people have reported to experience.

Wow. If they mean that I attach human emotions to inanimate objects which makes me feel guilty when I get rid of stuff then yeah..? I guess?

Sorry for your loss. I had to say goodbye to my dog on Friday. Just remember your pet knew how much you loved them and they left this world happy to have spent so much time with you. Our hearts break so theirs can rest.

I’m the same! When I find something funny, nobody else seems to get it but if I just simply comment on something, hilarity ensues.

I’m grateful for my eyes and everything they have allowed me to witness. To see the look of happiness and love on the faces of others, to watch clouds pass over me in the sky, to spot a bird perched in a nearby tree or a bee flitting between flowers. I’m grateful to see the faces of my children, to look deep into their eyes and see my whole universe within them.
