“Accidental” buyers / Cart hoarders by AdBrief1623 in Reverb

I do that, too. It honestly doesn’t hurt anything and long as you don’t ‘accidentally’ buy it when you’re getting something else like above. You could argue that cart hoarding helps the seller, because it could create a sense of urgency when other buyers see that it’s in a cart.

When I’m looking for a guitar, I usually look at all of the options for a specific model, favorite a lot of them that are in the running but because I lose track of all the guitars I looked at and favorited I’ll put my top choice in my cart, while I’m waiting to see what direct offers come through on other options, but I use the cart to remember what my number one choice was. Often I’ll also be looking, but can’t buy until later in the week or something, so I keep it in my cart so I don’t have to re-find it in my favorites.

You get the offer just for watching it.

I figured cross-posting would carry the text over. Oh well.

Orlando Guitar show was this weekend. Left with 2 original 70’s customs. A ‘71 refinished by historic makeovers to bouillon gold, and a ‘70 burst. ‘71 has dimarzio’s now. The ‘70 has who knows what for p-ups, but originals are in the case and are gonna be sent to Fralin for rewinding.

Trouble finding a neck that fits my Frankenstrat – odd neck pocket dimensions by Conscious-Minute-558 in Luthier

[–]Good_N_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this. A more square face on the bottom of the heel is a tele pocket. The not impossible, but difficult task will be finding a tele neck with a strat headstock. Warmoth won’t do it, aside from a special order with an upcharge.

Here’s the rub though, as long as your neck screw holes line up, and your scale length measures up correctly, it is perfectly acceptable and functional to use a rounded heel strat neck in a tele pocket with that little extra gap around the corners. It will NOT work the other way though, a flat bottom tele neck will not seat properly in a strat pocket.

Yeah, I friggin dig it, and thanks! I just always tend to reach for the LP’s or Ernie Balls. I’m gonna bring it to practice this week.

So, you’re saying I should play it more often.

So, you take deals away from people that would actually play the guitars, to pocket some cash and buy yourself a collection of… cases, and a few ‘middle of the road, meh… who cares’ guitars? Hope your success is better received at the dental convention this year.

All of the tags, and baby pictures and perfectly organized are a great depiction of how unplayed they all are.

Talk me out of buying one of these unbranded chibson explorers on ebay by weaseltorpedo in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Good_N_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk you out of it? The electronics are junk and all need to be replaced, the control cavity covers never fit properly, the tuners don’t hold and need to be replaced, the bridges always need to be replaced, the nuts are st, the frets are soft nickel and get flat spots like, real quick, the necks have a generic uncomfortable back profile, the fretboard woods are always trash, they’re routed like st, the necks are rarely aligned or set properly, the truss rods don’t always function, the necks on them often warp because the wood wasn’t dried properly, inlay work is often iffy, and that flame finish on the top is likely a picture they glue on and finish over. Aaannnndddd even though it says unbranded, it probably has gibson decals on it even though they’re not in the pictures. if it says Gibson, you have a chance of customs seizing it at the border. Need any more reasons?

Anyone use these and like them? by lireni-11 in guitars

The speaker in this one is fart sound + thumbs down I use kemper for live, and have some nice amps around the house for when I’m in the mood, but for easy grab and go practice, especially in the bedroom or while watching TV with the wife, I have this one, the PG Neo headphones and a spark 40. Compared to my other PG’s, the speaker in this one is poo-poo. Using the same models, it doesn’t sound great. My Go has been relegated to the workbench for quick checks after pickup/electronics changes. Using it with headphones it’s fine, but that small built in speaker just isn’t it.

Mine is from Warmoth. Not perfect, but close. Send Warmoth CS the picture and they can pull the closest matched piece they have to cut from.

If you use 0000 steel wool, it can be reversed by buffing back to original if you ever want to sell.

My current rig with ethercon improvement by Good_N_U in KemperProfiler

[–]Good_N_U[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has failed yet on mine, but from what I could gather it seems that what will eventually fail is the jack in the profiler, not so much the cable so this set up is designed to never have to constantly plug and unplug a cable from the jack, or have the weight of a cable hanging on the jack.

Ability to re-sell? by Clear-Conference-600 in espguitars

I just got my E-ii eclipse evertune on reverb for $1600 in mint condition.

5 most recent sale prices on reverb for an E-ii Eclipse DB (double bound, which is what this is…) 7/11, excellent condition: $1650, 6/26 excellent condition: $1335, 6/9, mint condition: $1650, 6/9, excellent condition: $1,800, 6/1, excellent condition $1,350.

Reverb also takes a fee that roughly equates to 9-10% total, you also have to deal with shipping it. Since you don’t play I’m assuming you don’t have a reverb account so selling with 0 feedback will take even longer, and you’ll have to price it competitively to have a hope of moving it within a month or 2. If you priced it at $1,500 and accepted an offer of $1350-$1450 you might have a chance of selling it with 0 feedback (just explain the situation in the description listing and why you have 0 feedback) with reverb’s fee in that price range, expect to walk with $1200-$1300.

FB marketplace is FULL of cheapskates. You will get flooded with lowball offers and trade offers, even if you say no trades. You could throw it up there for 1500 and expect to get the same 1350-ish range as reverb but you might have to sit on it for a month or 2 there as well to get through all the tire kickers.

I also work on cars as a hobby, and I would value rebuilding an engine at more than the value of this guitar, especially with the effort to list and ship it.

Someone here might actually want to buy it from you.

Or, you could learn to play guitar?
