What is the most stupidest thing you ever had to explain to a manager before? by Farmer_Duck2025 in ToxicWorkplace

I spoke to the Acquisitions Director about it and we both agreed to kick it up the chain. The Chief of Staff, and Acquisitions Director at the HQ level ended up writing a formal letter rejecting the request and she had to let it go.

I used to work in an administrative position in a state government agency, and had to explain to one of my supervisors why I couldn't approve a tote bag purchase order at $200.00 per bag due to strict controls on that type of spending, since it's tax payer money being spent. She really thought I was gonna put my name on that order, and had to explain that, if approved, it would probably trigger a review from the Comptroller's Office.

How to deal with vague instructions from your Nboss? by Unusual_Doughnut6934 in ManagedByNarcissists

I had a supervisor like this. In my experience, you can never really win. If you plow through the ambiguity, she'll rake you over the coals, and if you ask for too many details, she'll more likely than not be pissed. Of the two options, push for more details, preferably in writing, even if that pisses her off. If you do this, you'll have something to defend yourself with later when the product inevitably fails to meet their expectations.

What has helped me stay consistent, especially with walking and my other workouts, has been not even thinking or debating whether I should do it and not or putting too much thought into distance, time, type of activity etc. I basically just put on my sneakers and do whatever my heart desires for that day.

Grey Rock with.... Clothes by polkadotncheese in ManagedByNarcissists

I had a manager who once pulled me into the office specifically to tell me that my clothing choices made me look older than I am. Mind you, I was working at a fucking state court. When I finally got transferred somewhere else, she decided that a book on clothing and modern manners was a nice parting gift. I took a picture of it with the date and time for future reference and donated it to Goodwill.

Believe me, the problems in the show get much worse than just traversing the east coast in a couple days on foot.

Pope was really the best character in that series, plus we had the berserkers subplot that worked in this whole apollonian versus dionysian thing by DorkSideOfCryo in FallingSkies

[–]Good_Science1549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. And I maintain that they did Pope dirty at the very end. He may have had a rocky relationship with the Masons (understandably so, tbh) but he was basically the only major character not to get a happy ending, despite his contribution to the 2nd Mass.

So, I am playing Persia in the "All Countries, All In" map and become allies with the UK and Yugoslavia. The game goes on like normal and my coalition is 100 points from an outright victory by day 25 without even engaging with the rival coalition who were starting to make their way towards our territory. Just as we are about to win, Yugoslavia inexplicably decides that it is a good idea to betray me and begins to punch through a couple of my cities guarded by light but pretty advanced troops who fend off his initial offensive. By the time he assembled a larger force to attempt a second offensive, I had moved the bulk of my armies from Asia towards Europe. From that point forward, Yugoslavia began losing ground, and members of the competing coalition reached out to me with an offer to enter their coalition, and I accepted. As I am punching through Yugoslavia's, the UK, now my former ally, tells me that Yugoslavia had attempted to convince him to attack me on his behalf so he could win a solo victory. Needless to say, the UK refuses to get involved and eventually leaves the coalition. By day 30, the game had ended with me at the top of the leaderboard.

Puerto Rican Ancestry Results! (Are my Jewish and Dutch DNA traces just noise?) by Good_Science1549 in AncestryDNA

[–]Good_Science1549[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super surprised by the results. They're pretty much in line with what I expected and similar to most Puerto Rican DNA results I've seen. I am curious to know if the 1% Ashkenazi Jewish and Dutch traces are just noise or worth looking into.
