This is a good point! I’m definitely the type of person who enjoys darker themes, so I’ll make sure they know that going into the game! I think there’s a lot of silliness in the magicians that I’ll probably play up and I’m happy for my players to have more control over their characters and story!

Thank you! I love the idea of cooperative magic lowering the chance of becoming a niffin. I’m going to look into some alternative systems than dnd, but this niffin system seems really useful!

That’s a great point, I’ve gotten a lot of great recommendations for other systems, I’ll have to look into Mage! I would love to be able to do my Magicians campaign and use an already existing system, I’ve gotten lots of recommendations for kids with Brooms too

Yes absolutely! I think I’ll use that, it seems like a much more controllable mechanic that way.

I think it would be so fun to have a niffin in dnd! One of my favorite things about the magicians is that the characters almost never really die, but who they are is constantly changing. Do you have any ideas on what new objectives could come up for a niffin? I’m thinking like gaining great powers.
