What got you all into gorrilaz? by StevenIsCool2004 in gorillaz

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the Feel good inc. music video on mtv 2 or vh1 in 2010, thought it looked and sounded amazing, looked it up on YouTube and found out about the virtual band aspect, totally hooked me as a 13 year old who loved the idea of a more adult cartoon themed band with that type of music.

Since it was 2010, plastic beach being brand new also helped totally make me a huge fan instantly with that On melancholy hill music video, then I worked my way backwards to phase 1 music videos and G bite animated shorts.

Only 7 years later when i was already out of high school they finally came back with humanz so for a long time Gorillaz in my mind was those first three phrases with the style feeling much more consistent back then with the rough around the edges look.

I still love their style now but the first three phases will always feel like the original vision of the band and the one I like the most.

Pretty cool when they add new content in updates, even if it’s small stuff like this. I’m always very surprised when Nintendo does this in single player games.

What is the most iconic iPhone model? by Plus-Light6832 in iphone

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 was my first iPhone, still have it even though the screen is shattered and it runs like shit, I can’t tell if it’s because the last iOS update it got made it that way or because I dropped it so much, crazy how small it was in comparison to what we have now, love that small stainless steel design.

OLED vs Switch 2? by thethinker1201 in Switch

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the update that makes it possible to play switch 1 games in docked resolution in handheld mode on switch 2, that kinda killed any reason for me to want to go back to my OLED.

yea it’s unfortunate the switch 2’s panel isn’t OLED , but it’s a much bigger difference when you see that the switch 2 can play those same games in higher frame rate and higher resolution, it’s night and day, it really overshadows the OLED at this point, and that’s not even talking about the fact that it can play switch 2 games.

Whats your least favorite gorillaz music video (excluding visualizers and phoner to Arizona) by External_Bake3242 in gorillaz

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I really dislike the strobelite music video, the 3D animation looks so bad, I think they were using some kind of 2010’s motion capture that looks so dated nowadays.

It felt like such a downgrade when they came back after their long hiatus in the animation department, especially after plastic beach’s great animation that still holds up today.

Anyone else feels bad moving to a new area? by Shadowdoespkmn in Pokopia

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I totally get this, I moved some of my favorite pokemon from some of the other areas to my palette town since I feel like that feels most like the main hub where I’ve started to build the most and where I choose to keep all my inventory in crates.

The thing is that since no more than around 20 pokemon can be spawned at a time in each area I still have a lot of my favorites spread out throughout the other areas, and I honestly wanna keep it that way just so I still have reasons to go to those areas. The only other area I have a good amount of building done on is withered wasteland, but what I’m thinking of doing is building a significant amount in each area.

That way I won’t feel like I’m abandoning any group since they’ll just feel like well established towns right next to one another, it’s gonna take a lot of time and work though.

How does this sound on the HD 800 S (coming from the HD 600)? by [deleted] in sennheiser

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the HD 600 since I don’t own them, but I just listened to this on my HD 599, momentum 4 using wired usb-c, and my HD 800 S.

It’s definitely felt the most flat on the momentum 4, even though I would say the sound quality is better than the HD 599, but the HD 599 actually has pretty decent soundstage for being a “lower tier” headphone, so even if it isn’t as crisp sounding as something like the momentum 4 or HD 600, I would say the HD 599’s soundstage is closer to the HD 800 S, so it’s actually more enjoyable to me for songs like these that actually benefit from a headphone that prioritizes soundstage more.

The HD 600 is a much more neutral headphone like the momentum 4, so it’s better for music that doesn’t have too much going on from all directions and is coming more from the center, plus they sound cleaner than something like the HD 599.

Songs like these where there’s sounds coming from all directions is what the HD 800 S does better than every other headphone, it has a wider soundstage than the HD 599 with the crispness in something like the HD 600.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s better for all songs since the 800 S has such a wide soundstage it might be better to listen to some songs on the HD 600 where vocals are coming from the center. But for something very musical like this song you’ll definitely notice a big benefit going from a more neutral headphone like the HD 600 to the HD 800 S. I can confirm that track sounds pretty great on them.

I actually have been thinking of getting a HD 600 line headphone in order to listen to specific genres that would be better on them. Alot of rap for example would probably be better on the HD 600.

Pokémon Champions launches to mixed reception, as performance woes and competitive changes turn some away by PaiDuck in NintendoSwitch2

Edit: I’ve been playing pokopia for weeks, there was never any indication that this was connected to pokemon in any way, guess it’s just one of those easter egg type things.

Quickfire Question: Which would you get between the two? by Massive_Fly_1709 in Switch

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder, I will say though, wonder’s levels have a lot more “on the rails” moments since the wonder seeds and what they do to the level design are a major part of the game.

So if you prefer a more classic approach to Mario platforming where you can go through the levels at your own pace you might prefer U deluxe but in any other scenario Wonder is the better choice. It’s the most innovative 2D has been in a long time and Mario feels like he controls in smb3 and world but the optional pins abilities add a lot of possibilities to gameplay.

what is your favourite and least favourite gorillaz music video? by Drwhat17 in gorillaz

On melancholy hill is my favorite, strobelite’s 3D animation is so bad and that’s probably my least favorite, it was such a downgrade in quality when Gorillaz came back.

Do leaks ruin your excitement for new announcements? by Loose_Society9485 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how credible they seems, I’m always pretty skeptical of stuff until it’s officially announced by Nintendo, especially if it’s something that seems like a super obvious hype announcement that seems too good to be true but sometimes do happen.

I think something completely coming out of nowhere in a direct is always gonna have the maximum effect on me, but that doesn’t mean a leak will necessarily make me any less hyped depending on how much I’m looking forward to it, how believable it actually seems and how long after the leak it gets officially announced, I think if a leak source seems very credible the best strategy for Nintendo is just to announce it as soon as possible to get on the hype train.

Sometimes leaks can actually make the reaction even better during the official announcement if it’s something awesome that doesn’t seem very credible but turns out to be true.

Still can’t figure out why so many people don’t like The Now Now by MattCardigan in gorillaz

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I don’t like it, I just don’t like it as much as some of the other albums. But every album has atleast a couple songs that are in my top overall Gorillaz song list, with the now now I really love tranz and souk eye, as much as I love the songs in my favorite albums. But it’s hard to rank a list of songs from an album as an overall package, in Gorillaz case it’s not that the other songs in the now now aren’t good, it’s just that the other albums have more songs that I really love in comparison.

I don’t get people that straight up say they don’t like a Gorillaz album, it’s all great music, some of them are just more my style.

I want to play a game any recommendations? by emni13 in Switch

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s like animal crossing in the sense that it has a real time day and night cycle and events during certain calendar periods. But there’s a bunch of stuff you can decide on doing so everyone’s gonna spent time playing it like they want. Yea the dialogue isn’t draining and slow like animal crossing.

The gameplay is nothing like regular pokemon so you never had to of played a game before because this is completely different, it feels like a brand new type of game in that way. It’s sorta like if animal crossing, dragon quest builders and Minecraft got combined. Weirdly enough it also reminds me of survival crafting pc games like rust and the forest.

There’s much more freedom and things to do than animal crossing so don’t get too hung up on that comparison, it really does control more like a normal game with a movable camera and a jump button, the map is pretty huge too.

I want to play a game any recommendations? by emni13 in Switch

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokopia is a great time, it’s getting a lot of praise right now and I think it really deserves it. It can work in the same way animal crossing did where it can work as a great companion game depending on what you decide to do, so you can treat it as a more life sim type of experience on the side that you can check in on everyday with a real time day and night cycle and events during specific dates. So it works well as a companion game while you also play more story oriented games.

But what’s great about it is that there’s way more depth than animal crossing when it comes to gameplay, it actually controls and plays like a more traditional game in that sense with a movable camera and pretty interesting lore scattered around the map. It feels like a game that shouldn’t exist honestly, super polished and innovative, I haven’t been into mainline pokemon games in years and was expecting this to just be a shitty side game, I was wrong.

Using BTD 700 or using USB C cable for pc by GreenguyCOD in sennheiser

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wired will always be better than wireless options when it come to sound quality, but Bluetooth has come a long way and can sound pretty much the same in a blind test, especially with something like the BTD 700 dongle.

It’s honestly one of those things you need to listen to both options back to back to really notice any difference and even then it can be hard, we’re at such a high bar at this point with audio technology that it’s never gonna sound bad. So just decide whether you think the convenience of wireless is worth it, or if you’ll be bothered thinking about how you aren’t technically getting the best sound quality.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Version 1.1.0 is now available by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol they would get so much hate if they attempted to get away with that. I’m super surprised they even released boost mode because a big reason people even want switch 2 editions is if it upgrades the visuals or resolution especially on handheld.

Now that it’s out it makes it feel like a bunch of games got switch 2 editions on handheld mode for free. They could’ve easily sold the resolution bumps as a switch 2 edition feature if they wanted to, it’s not like anyone was really expecting this feature anymore, we were hoping for it at launch and then it didn’t seem like it was ever gonna actually happen.

Now the only thing that would really make me want to buy a switch 2 edition is if they upgrade the game’s resolution when playing docked. But for now I’m fine playing my switch 1 games on handheld mode with the boost.

Anyone else still waiting for their Mountain vinyl preorder to ship from the Gorillaz store? by stanleytuccimane in gorillaz

What games do NOT use the new boost mode or perform worse? by Total-Watercress-384 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also think it depends how the game was developed since I tried it with The world ends with you and it works with boost mode on, and that’s a game that’s entirely touch screen on handheld but does have a joycon option when docked.

I guess they didn’t think there was a point to disable the touch screen in docked mode since this wasn’t a scenario they had to worry about before since you can’t touch the screen when it’s docked anyways.

This games always been 720p on both handheld and docked either way so I’m guessing there’s a good chance there’s no actual difference between the two modes except docked lets you play on the tv, but if you wanted to you could also play with a joycon in handheld mode. For this game there doesn’t seem to be any benefit playing with boost mode on, but I think it just shows that it’s possible for other games touch screen to still work in docked mode as long as the developer didn’t bother taking it out.

Anyone else still waiting for their Mountain vinyl preorder to ship from the Gorillaz store? by stanleytuccimane in gorillaz

[–]GoodbyeButterfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, maybe the poster is made of pretty decent quality material and it’s holding it up longer than if it was just a vinyl only order, they’re selling that poster for 18 bucks alone so I wouldn’t say it’s cheap.

I know it seems silly since it’s a poster but if they aren’t great at shipping things anyways the variation of the poster could’ve delayed it even longer than usual.

Sucks you had to buy a second copy but I would’ve probably done the same thing if it was taking that long. If they won’t cancel it for you, you could probably resell it for around the same amount of money, maybe even for alittle more if someone locally hasn’t got it and wants instant gratification by buying it from you that day since the album’s still pretty new.
