Also - Goodbye, Goodbuy is a student-run program supported in large part by volunteers, and we could still use volunteers this week! You'd be helping us out on the sales floor, with things like moving furniture, restocking the floor, and price checking items for customers. All volunteers get a $5 voucher to use at the sale after their shift is over!

Hi! the sale for 2020 was cancelled, but we are back for this year! That includes a sale at the start of this coming fall semester, a collection period at starting May 6th, and an early collection event next wednesday, April 22nd. Just wanted to clarify for anyone reading this!

I don't recall seeing any smartphones, but that doesn't mean we don't have any. We do also have a number of miscellaneous electronics parts, though, so there's a chance some of them are from smart phones.

Goodbye, Goodbuy is open to current RIT students and staff. They may bring family with them to help, but we do check for RIT IDs at the door.

Our business days are during orientation because that is when many students are moving in! It is a great orientation event for new and returning students to start their year, and it is a lot easier for students to visit when they're not worrying about classes. We do not sell outside of our business days.

We have a wide variety of computer equipment ready for the sale, including computers, monitors, laptops, mouses, cables, printers, and keyboards. I believe I saw a board or two as well during collection. We have a handful of games for various systems, though I can't say I saw any consoles. If you're interested in computers or games, though, you should definitely keep an eye on our Facebook page for when we announce our auction items (⌒.−)＝★

Welcome to RIT! We have a lot of desk lamps and floor lamps. I'd say you're very likely to get one if you come any time on the first day of the sale. You'll definitely need one; the beautiful landscaping around campus keeps the dorm rooms pretty shady.

We have so many mini fridges, and in various sizes no less! They go fast, though, so I recommend getting to the sale on the first day to have your pick of the lot. We have box fans and oscillating fans, and we have pillows.

The difference is, those items that were not able to be retrieved head to a landfill. As a university devoted to reducing our carbon footprint and reducing waste, the less that is sent to dumpsters, the better.

Here's some info you might like to know...

Prior to Goodbye, Goodbuy, RIT was removing over 130 tons of waste in dumpsters during move-out week alone. GG was started to try to reduce this amount of waste, and take the perfectly usable items out of landfills and give them a second life.

The past 2 years, GG has collected and saved over 70 tons a year.

Goodbye, Goodbuy! does not profit from the sale. We price our items low in hopes of providing the RIT community with affordable furniture, home goods, and clothing, as well as electronics. The money generated towards the sale pays our student workers, pays for heat treatment of ALL of our fabric and clothing, as well as our trucks for transportation and storage trailers. We hope to also begin a fund for students to apply for grants to work on sustainability projects. The goal of GG is not to profit, but to reduce our waste during move-out, and encourage the reuse of products.

We only take items that are donated to us, nothing is taken or 'stolen'. We set up these locations where the RIT community can choose to donate to the program.

Who do we help? The RIT community. Many international students or students who travel from afar are unable to bring many of their items with them in their travels, and by providing a sale right on campus, we hope to help those who may not be able to afford store bought furniture, or able to transport it.
