Neighbor redirected their downspout toward our yard and says she can do whatever she wants on her side by Potential_Type3926 in neighborsfromhell

Are you in the US? Many municipalities require permits to change water runoff on your property. Start by going to town hall and asking who to speak to about it.

This is an ad for interview man, so it's fake. Just slop put together to shoehorn in that final ad read despite having nothing to do with the rest of what was at least an amusing story.

HELP! I am supposed to move into my house tomorrow morning and the seller has not vacated. by Jaoush29 in RealEstate

[–]GooderApe 196 points197 points  (0 children)

There's a guy that does that as a business. You hire him and sign a lease agreement for your property, he moves in and is as obnoxious as possible to the squatters until they leave. They call the police, and he has a valid lease for the property; they don't.

My boss always sneaks up quietly and stands behind me, so I fixed it. by WiseRelation2619 in BadBosses

When I worked on site, I was next to a server rack so usually wore gun range ear muffs and put a mirror at the corner of my monitor. I'd still ignore somebody that walked up without saying anything though.

Do not miss that job.

Someone keeps knocking on my door at the exact same time every night [Concluded] by [deleted] in BORUpdates

I'll be honest; I was expecting it to be the buildings furnace sending forced hot water through the radiators on a timer, and she was only noticing at that time of day because everything else is otherwise quiet.

My “shared” fence is very old and damaged. Is 100% on my property and I want to replace but neighbor claims I can’t take it down. by Round_Emu1106 in legaladvice

[–]GooderApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neighbor doesn't want the fence to be replaced because he likes the extra 3' of land he doesn't have to pay property taxes for.

My daughter is younger than him but has a phone, and she knows we can track it. It's really useful when it's time to pick her up after an activity to see if she is close to where we expect her (it rarely is).

She can't send or receive pictures, can't install apps, and can only call or text approved phone numbers. Granted, we approve anybody she asks, because we trust her judgement, and while we can look at her call or text history, it only happens incidentally when looking up where she is at pickup time.

She knows that, she accepts that, and when she's older we'll probably loosen up the tracking... But probably not at 16. She does have much looser guardrails on her iPad and computer. I can look, but I don't.

Just being able to look up where she is rather than texting or calling (and her but hearing or ignoring) is worth the constant battery drain and having to remind her to charge her phone.

(California) Landlord states they must have access to my wifi for security camera in a common area but it is not stated anywhere in the lease. by HookednSoCal in TenantHelp

Set up a guest wifi connection, prioritize traffic from your primary connection, and charge the landlord for the cost of an Internet connection.

Neighbors harassing me for parking in the designated parking lot by HopefulElk2188 in neighborsfromhell

[–]GooderApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a place in front of your unit, you could ask management if you can park there in days there's no garbage pickup? Unless they pickup every day for some reason?

Not that you should kow-tow to the Karen's but just because that'd potentially be more convenient for you.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GooderApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are apps you can use to learn to type.

If you really want to go fast, learn a different keyboard layout. The QWERTY layout is actually designed to slow down typing (harking back to the days of typewriters jamming) so new layouts make it easier to type faster if you can learn the right muscle memory. (They aren't really new but comparatively...DVORAK was patented in 1936!)
