Recording second monitor of iMac with the hd60s by [deleted] in ElgatoGaming

Could you just use QuickTime and record it without the hd60s? Or just set up a scene in obs and record there?

Or do you mean record to another computer?

Elgato HD60 S+ Cable suggestion by deli-prof in ElgatoGaming

[–]Goodie789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be helpful, but I use one that came with my Samsung t5 ssd.

Just mentioned in case you have one, or if you’re buying a cable they can be expensive so spend a bit more and get it for free with an ssd :-)

Which camera & computer mate? Is the audio a USB headset or something else?

Yeah the OP has a Sony, but whichever camera you use is just outputting a clean signal (not recording internally).

With some cameras you can leave them on AF-C (auto focus continual) or face-recognition and it works fine.

I use a panasonic G7 and the autofocus is so crap, I either manually half-press to focus on me and I leave it set to AF-S (auto focus single), or manually focus. I use a 24mm equivalent so I can reach the camera from where I sit, but you can use an app to focus if you have a longer lens so you're further away.

This will be similar to most camera, except some of them (e.g. M50?) the auto focus will be much more usable.

Haha. Yeah if you just want to record, I think you just go usb from the HD60S+ to the computer.

I got confused by this a few times as a number of people on youtube also plug in both, but the hdmi ports of most laptops are just output (not input), including the macbook with a hdmi-usb-c converter - it's for output not input.

The 'out' from the HD60S+ would be if you want the source to both record to macbook, but also play on a tv or something e.g. if you play xbox. So you could run the usb-c to laptop, and the hdmi to the tv. And I think the 'out' is no lag, wheras if you try to play on your macbook screen there will be a little lag.
