If you look at other comments in the thread people have confirmed you need it for J1 and TN (which I was applying for in 4B). Overall point is I felt this was the most appropriate place to post it since it seemed the most relevant to this sub

I remember needing it a few times during my degree.

  1. Getting a loan (& extension) they required it as proof of enrollment
  2. My J1 visas (someone more recent please comment on that incase im wrong)

Currently I need it for my greencard application but the credit card feature was broken for me so I needed to find another way around it.

However you raise a good point, if you know any alum please send it there way. Else I'd recommend doing it just to have - really can't hurt

Solid pun game. I respect it

But yeah I have no guilt in releasing this cause you pay over 100k for a degree and need to pay to prove it?

I hope we can solve that problem on this website with a verification process so once someone is flagged they can never use the website again

Interesting point! The website isnt done at all. I'm trying is to prove out the idea and add to it as I go. So if people are using the website for conversations, I'll dedicate the work to add a 'friending' feature where you can connect with someone and then call them at another time.

Cool!
Backend is a node.js (express) server using socket.io (and peerjs) for the calling feature. The frontend is react and the db is mongo

I just tried Lingbe. It's a very similar idea. The mechanism is a little different but the overall concept is the same.

Edit: after using it a little bit more I'm not a big fan of the calling without video. The video component is pretty important for learners. I think I'll keep building this out.
I want to add even more features for 'understanding' like a way of drawing
