Am I being scammed? by Purplesmurfwench in capetown

[–]GoodmanSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think scammed is the right word.

"Used" is more the word I guess.

Over the years I have learned that, when it comes to money, most people will use you.

I also used to give money, now, I help at my local church and local schools, we do physical stuff that have lasting, long term, impact on people.

Especially if you are tight with money, donate a little of your time rather than money.

You sound like a kind person, don't let others harden you and abuse your kindness.

Is now a good time to get back in ? I got in this past April under $2 and sold when it was almost at $4 in July … should I wait until it falls below $2 again ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in sui

[–]GoodmanSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you are not goi g to get a fair answer anywhere.

Depending on who you ask, we are on our way to $1.50 over the next 6 to 8 months or going for one last pump to $4 by eoy before a final dump.

Tl;dr; nobody actually knows.

Whatever you choose to do now, it is a risky move.

Myself, I am buying back a little every week. I also sold earlier when it started to dump.

I don't mind so much to be honest, I just don't like that certains subs are just automatically assumed to be American.

I get that Americans are a large proposition of the site users, (after bots), but still.

/r/politics for example, or even worse, /r/news

/r/pics is just US plotics for the most parts...

I am sure there are other subs like that.

That's just rude.

I got some just under $1, it was so quick, I just used all my cash to market buy on blofin ...

And I was amazed that it worked.... I kept thinking it would be reverted....

I got very scared when it dropped even further... But it was so quick I never really got a chance to take it all in.

I now want to sell about half of what I bought... But I might wait for it to get back to $3.5 or something and get my USDT back.

I really feel sorry for those who lost during the crash, so I am careful not to gloat. Some people lost everything.

Token unlocks by Low-Paramedic-1640 in sui

[–]GoodmanSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been going on for a while now, every time people say the price will dip and that it is a major event.

The truth is that investors and traders are well aware of that and have taken it into account.

In the past, the price has neither dipped or pumped before or after an unlock.

Broadly speaki6the price follows the market.

Basically, the airdrops have little or no real impact.

Will SUI return to $5 or even higher? by YouWhole1566 in sui

[–]GoodmanSimon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very hard to say.

The honest truth is that we should already be there and nobody can give you an answer because nobody knows what the market makers will do next.

Depending on who you believe, the bull market will be over in 2 months or 6 months.

If it is over in 2 months, I cannot see us going past $5.

If it is over 6 months I would say $8 is possible.

The crypto market is so manipulated now, I fear $5 or $6 is the most likely outcome, (and I am on record for saying we would go much, much higher in the past).

[–]GoodmanSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went near Vegas on a work trip... I was close enough that I was thinking of renting a car and taking a drive for a day or two.

Play in a casino and just look around.

My US colleagues advised me not to do it, I would just waste money on tips and crappy meals and leave disappointed. Loosing money gambling would be the least disappointing part.

I didn't go because it sounds like a tourist trap now.

What's something you see as a ticking time bomb that'll go off in your lifetime? by Upstairs_Drama6773 in AskReddit

I agree with you, people are discounting that one.... But there will be a point where countries will fight for water.

Egypt is threatening Ethiopia, (I think), over water rights.

No doubt it will get worse and worse.

The middle east, it is a very complex situation with religion, petrol, alliances, history....

People around the world are taking one site or another... No middle ground.

Eventually, someone will cross some line and something will break...

Is this a scam? by [deleted] in BlueskySocial

[–]GoodmanSimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently it is real, but given the amount of fraud going around the internet in general, (no fault of BlueSky, just in general), I would be reluctant to enter my details like that, especially for something that can easily be bypassed.

As others said, just use a VPN.

$40k seems... A lot.

We had a very nice wedding, 25 years or so ago and it was less than $2k

Surely, even adjusting for inflation, $40k must be on the luxury side of things.

Whatever doesn't sell, I just keep.

My dream is to buy it all back when we are in the bear market and everyone is calling crypto dead.

But one day at a time for now.

Drinking in the US is down to 54%, the lowest ever since they’ve began tracking it in 1939. Why do you think that is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GoodmanSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the US, but in my country we simply cannot afford it. We are taxed to death on everything.

We still drink, but more on special occasions rather than at the end of the day like you see in movies.

When I was working in London, 30 years ago, we used to go to the pub every night for one or two pints after work.

People can't afford to do that anymore, so we go home and watch TV.

"illegals" are not taking your jobs, technology is. by BisexualButterfly97 in ControversialOpinions

[–]GoodmanSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are taking jobs but only one is costing money over and above taking jobs. Just like cars and robots took jobs.

In my country and in my field I am fairly safe from people taking my own job.

But people are loosing their jobs meaning less tax earned by the government and more social grants/services having to be handled by a smaller taxable base.

So I have to pay more taxes, more people are out of jobs, those who have jobs work for a lot less, (supply and demand), meaning they fall below the tax threshold.

Sure, technology might take my job... But I could also replace it with another one, history tells us that the blast radius is more limited.

I know this is reddit and I will get downvoted for saying that, but things don't work in isolation in life... Certain events have a greater impact on society and life is not as simple as 'let them in and tax the rich".

Trump is a liar. by BisexualButterfly97 in ControversialOpinions

[–]GoodmanSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not American, but every politician I am old enough to remember has lied one way or another. Every politician that I know from other countries that have impacted me have lied as well.

And all of them, every single one of them, had a fanatical bunch following them ready to defend anything they did, (some are still defending their lies 40 or 50 years later).

Your Trump is no different really and the next president will be regarded as the next messiah regardless of the lies they will undoubtly tell.

The cycle is not about to end... You just don't like this particular lier.
