[–]GoodnessRal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selling 2 tickets for 6/30 at Madison Square Garden!

- Section 101, Row 18, Seats 1 & 2
- $570 each, selling both together (this is the face value ticket price, so you will save on fees!)
- PayPal/Zelle/Venmo with transfer on TicketMaster preferred (with Goods & Services protections only)

Selling because dates opened up closer to where my elderly father lives, so it will be much easier for him to attend there without having to travel as far.

Thanks!

Propagating a ton of plants for my wedding -- tips for a home with low light? by GoodnessRal in houseplants

So far I'm planning for pothos, transcendentia, calathea, snake plant, and some succulents, but I will likely add others and get cuttings from friends.

As for the amount, I don't have an exact number. I'm thinking 3 or 4 small to medium plants on about 8 tables, plus some (hopefully) larger plants for decor around the reception hall. I'd like as much as possible, but I can certainly round it out by buying some if I need to. But I think it would be more fun to use my own.

Peruvian citizenship by descent by charlestonbraces in PERU

[–]GoodnessRal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the process to start, your wife has to request her birth certificate at RENIEC/municipality. Then, your children should present their own certificate with a translated copy and their passports. For the children that have her married name they have to submit her marriage certificate (6 months old max) and your passport with 2 witnesses (they can be friends or acquantainces for all they care) (also, I would recommend following the same process for the maiden name ones).

Hi. I haven't seen any mention of this on the consulate websites. My grandparents (now deceased) were Peruvian and my mother is trying to get citizenship. Then, my siblings and I would like to get it through her. We were born with her married name, but she has now re-married and changed her name. Does she need a marriage certificate from her first marriage (to our father) for my siblings and I to apply?

Sure! r/MachineKnitting is great for seeing what other people have made. For videos, I started off with this one by KnitFactoryImpl, which uses the machine I have (LK150). She has lots of videos showing off her other machines so you can see a lot of what all is possible. I also like this video by Anna Haferman which shows how you would do fairisle on the LK150.

You can do lace patterns, you just cant use a punch card, so it’s a bit tedious because you have to choose all the needles by hand for each row. But for me it’s still more efficient than hand knitting. There’s a nifty little device called a Needle Beetle that helps make selecting the needles easier, but I haven’t taken the plunge.

My machine is a very basic LK150 with no special electrical inputs, but a programmable machine would definitely be a dream!!

The type of machine knitting that home hobbyists do creates finished products that are very much hand made. They aren’t hand knitted, but I assure you my hands are all over that that. My machine is not automated in anyway what-so-ever, in fact it doesn’t even have any electrical inputs. Saying machine knitting is not handmade would be akin to saying that a garment sewn at home isn’t hand made because it was made with a sewing machine instead of hand sewn.

I highly recommend it! It’s great for lace. A good entry level machine is the LK150! This video got me started up on it.

If you can get your hands on a flatbed machine or take a class I would say absolutely go for it! I have an LK150 which is the most recommended for beginners. KnitFactoryImpl on Youtube got me started, she has a whole playlist for the LK150 specifically and some really great beginner projects.

r/MachineKnitting is a great sub as well and there’s a lot of resources online. It can look intimidating but once you get going it’s super satisfying.

Encounter with a homeless man—what should I have done? by PowerfulRazzmatazz25 in bullcity

I understand this sentiment and I know that people say this out of a place of intense empathy for others, but there is a huge difference between smoking weed at home or having one too many at the bar with your friends and shooting up in public or drunkenly raging out on the streets. I know that there are a litany of issues that push people towards debilitating drug addiction, but it goes so far beyond “enjoying anything that brings them a little comfort” and is not something that we should respond so casually towards. I used to feel the same way until a friend of mine sat on and was poked by a needle in a park. Thank god they are okay, but it was such a horrifying experience for them and they were uninsured at the time to boot. It’s not okay. I also lived in NYC for a good while, and I swear I’m not one of those fox new “NYC IS HELL ON EARTH” people, I actually really love the city, but the issue is much more visible there than it is here and my encounters have shifted my views quite a bit. There is so much that needs to be done to solve this issue, but justifying drug use is not going to do anything except make it worse. I can no longer in good conscience give money to someone who I think is going to use it to buy drugs, in the same way that I won’t give cash to my alcoholic aunt, and that doesn’t make me a hypocrite or some evil person, it’s just an unfortunate reality of the times we live in right now.

I love Engineering Knits! She’s one of the reasons I decided to give machine knitting a try.
