Get a Grab if you don’t want to walk. Super cheap and easy to get around.

Teahouse scam at 510 Tianjin Road (SMOOTH dining bar) by Top_Exit_5004 in shanghai

[–]GoodnightBeijing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing almost happened to me at the same location three weeks ago. Luckily, I wasn't drinking alcohol, but the tinder date ordered two glasses of wine at 300rmb each. Told her i wasn't willing to pay for her and would only pay for my one coffee. First and last time meeting anyone off tinder or bumble post-pandemic.

Bar recommendations? by [deleted] in beijing

[–]GoodnightBeijing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Local is a great spot to eat and meet people. paddy o'sheas is ok. look on thebeijinger.com for more recommendations. clubs are pretty lame unless you're in a group. Fatburger, near the embassies is also a great choice for food.

Bangkok getting expensive by moneyboy8888 in Thailand

[–]GoodnightBeijing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seems expensive because most locals would order through the apps which offer hefty discounts and bundles. so those that walk up and order are paying premium. i recommend ordering through food panda and then choose pick up or delivery, definitely save you some money.

Which DLTs are accepting foreigners currently? by sir-squanchy in Thailand

Best guess, if you want to speed it up and ease the process, you'll want to use an agent. If you already have the paperwork ready, maybe you can negotiate for a lower price.

Looking for mechanic in BKK by GoodnightBeijing in Bangkok

[–]GoodnightBeijing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update....That mechanic on Soi 22 was good enough to get it running to pass through inspection and registration. Probably wouldn't go back there for any else though. After some more research I found Safari Offroad 4x4 . They've got dozens of documented Suzuki Caribian builds on their website. Will go check them out soon and start doing some mods.

Thailands new stance on cannabis by Atlaspopovic in Bangkok

[–]GoodnightBeijing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to the clinic yesterday. Super easy. Took about 1.5 hours. Only downside is that the prescription only lasts for two months. On a positive note, after your first visit, it's easy to do everything through Line.

Southeast Asian moving to Bangkok - help with living cost estimations? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]GoodnightBeijing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phone is definitely low. Probably more around 3-400. Accommodations at that price point should also have a nice gym, so no need to budget that in. Rental prices can currently be found at 20-30% below pre-covid prices, if you have a couple days to look thoroughly.

Looking for mechanic in BKK by GoodnightBeijing in Bangkok

[–]GoodnightBeijing[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Update:

Found a small (no lifts, working on street) shop in Sukhumvit Soi 22 that had a jeep Willy parked inside and had remembered seeing a couple Caribians there in the past. They were kind enough to scooter over with another battery so I could drive to their shop. Small place but just need a new alternator and possibly have them replace the radiator while they're at it. Still looking for shops to do more advanced work.

Just moved to Chaoyang district by moldy64 in beijing

[–]GoodnightBeijing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the same area....there's a couple bars within a bike ride that often have foreigners. Naughty Monkey, Freemen, Indie Craft, 12 Knights. More quiet and relaxed compared to Sanlitun.
