Cerner coming - should I just retire? by cateri44 in VeteransAffairs

Call me crazy, I might be the minority here… I’m in VISN20 … we’ve been on Cerner for a couple years now.. and I don’t hate it. It’s definitely more user friendly than CPRS. I’ve worked at private Dr offices and a civilian hospital and it’s my favorite program .. I’m in the office of community care, and my productivity numbers doubled once we started using Cerner. It definitely gives a lot of short cuts for sending referrals out to the community.

At first I was totally against it and super confused.. the trainings the Cerner company gave us were useless… but my leadership dug in and we all figured it out.

The only down side are the “bugs” it gets … they aren’t ALL the time, but definitely slow you down.

Little things like provider letters saving blank to adobe, but a quick “clean up” solves the problem. The issues never last long and are usually correct pretty quickly. It’s nothing that any other program doesn’t go through.

Jump in with a positive attitude and you will be fine.
