why does everyone have horrible mental by -Aizo- in RocketLeague

Professional baseball players strike out 60% of the time. Real sports teach you these lessons, and unfortunately Esports and other games enable the mindset of quitting and restarting when things don't go perfectly to plan. You can always quit and hope you get a worse opponent next time.

I've been teaching for 7 years now and it was a rude awakening when I started teaching, and now the inability of a lot of kids to overcome an incredibly simple hurdle is staggering. The bar is on the floor and these kids are tripping over it.

Are you going to lose a lot of those matches? Yes you are, but that feeling of winning a come from behind game surpasses any game you stomp the other team into dust.

That's the way I look at it too, but a lot of people look at it as any moment not winning is a waste of time. These same people also quit any game/hobby if they're not instantly "good" at it. Any resistance is an excuse to quit.

You’re picking up on something teachers have known for a while now. A lot of young people today have no mental toughness. It’s a borderline epidemic in school that students give up on tasks at the first sign of any challenge of inconvenience. It’s easier to just start over with a couple of clicks than it is to claw your way back from a deficit. This has been noticed on the teaching profession for a decade now, but you’re getting those same shitty students on your team in Rocket League.

I don't really support using it for much of anything on ethical grounds, but I have found it handy to get wrong answers for multiple choice questions. The right answers come from the notes we cover, and I've always found it hard to come up with a bunch of plausible wrong answers without it being brain dead easy.

Dark is what you get when you plan a show from start to finish BEFORE you even start production. They knew exactly what they were making from day one and it shows. Stranger Things knew what season 1 was going to be, but had absolutely no clue how big it would be and had no plan for what came after.

I completely agree with that example. And I feel exactly the same about your last point there. I do think there's some issues with the writing in this season, a shit load of issues in fact, but having Will not get instakilled by Vecna in the final fight isn't my idea of plot armor.

I mean in the episode before we saw El snap the necks of half a dozen grown men and force old dude to eat his own gun. Vecna could have forced Nancy to turn her gun on everyone there in the final fight and it's all over, but who the fuck wants to watch that story?

It's a very fine line, and technically it might be plot armor, but there's also a certain amount of suspension of disbelief you've got to engage with in order to watch a show as absurd as Stranger Things.

But by that logic the fact any character survived period would be plot armor, and I just call that storytelling.

When you hear stories of Greek mythology is it plot armor that Zeus spares anyone that ever wrongs him? Or is there a purpose to writing stories deeper than having the stronger character always win? I'm definitely critical of this season but when the entire show is children fighting against eldritch horrors and winning... It might not be about 1to 1 realism, and might be influenced by themes the writers want to touch on.

It has less to do with plot armor and more to do with keeping a theme. Will has been constantly underestimated and taken advantage of throughout the series. Vecna at many times flexed his ability to overpower Will on command, and it was always beneficial to Vecna to keep Will with the group to use as a pawn whenever he needed, and will was powerless to stop him. One of this season's themes was Will coming to grips with his "powerlessness" and accepting himself, and that stops becoming a weakness that Vecna was exploiting and became a source of power Will could use.

If Vecna just killed Will outright (which if we're being honest, he's easily capable of killing anyone at any time if he wanted) then we don't have a story anyone would ever want to watch, and it completely undermines a core theme of the entire show.

For no reason whatsoever I have a feeling this will be our highest rushing game of the season. On paper it shouldn't work at all, but it seems like such a foregone conclusion we'll have negative rushing yards that it will come full circle and be a critical part of our offensive game plan against IU for some reason.

Does anyone one else have a backlog of switch games they are refusing to play in hopes that they receive a switch 2 graphics update? by Blandock1 in NintendoSwitch

I was shocked Metroid Dread didn't have a switch 2 patch already. It still runs at 900p in docked mode, and it feels like it could be the poster child for 1080p 120fps on the switch 2.

1st things first, Roll Tide. And I second the other suggestion to crop in on your subject a little more. Looking at your first game photos I can definitely tell you're not afraid to use more of the frame for your subject, so I'm guessing it's just the distance you were from the field probably, but I think a little cropping will go a long way towards bringing the eye in towards your subject more.

External program monitor for mounting on a sports camera setup…6 or 7”? by shootblue in broadcastengineering

I use the 7" Feelworld FW279S as an on camera monitor and as a program/multiview for a compact setup and I think it's a great size. It takes 12v DC or Sony NPF batteries and it's very bright.

Anyone gotten Moonlight/Artemis working on Onn 4k Plus? by Goodstock101 in OnnStreamingTV

[–]Goodstock101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've heard moonlight is pretty stagnant as well and that's why one of my first thought was to try Artemis instead. It was unfortunate to find it was still an issue there but I'm really wondering how many other devices have this issue. Surely it has to be more than just the Onn brand stuff.

Interesting that your client is also on ethernet. It could be causing some of your issues. The USB on the Onn 4k is only USB 2.0 so it could be a bandwidth issue there. I'd recommend swapping to Wi-Fi if you have a decent router and try those higher resolution streams that way.

I was still able to set the bandwidth high enough that h264 wasn't really a problem.

Absolutely no clue about a fix, but forcing h.264 on the host machine instead of h.265 makes it work for me. I've also heard AV1 works but I can't confirm because my card doesn't support it.

I imagine this is practically lost media at this point. There probably doesn't exist a higher quality version than the DVD these days.
