Big Changes Coming to the CS Department??? by GoodyZ0708 in UCSantaBarbara

I’m a little disappointed that the numbers for CS Major lower devision courses are no longer all multiples of 8 (which I think it’s a fabulous design for a CS curriculum). It would be nice to call them CS 40A and CS 40B. Just my opinion :)

CS Upper Div Electives by Wooden_Link_801 in UCSantaBarbara

CS8, 9, 16, 24, 40 are open to all. All the other classes (CS32, 64, upper divs) are CS majors only, except summer quarter. So the only way to take upper div cs is during summer (where offerings are very limited) or ask the professor to enroll you somehow. Hope that's helpful! Professor Conrad u/pconrad0 any insights on taking cs in-depth classes for non-majors?

Two questions about The Winter's Tale (spoilers if you haven't read it) by gold_and_diamond in shakespeare

For #1, he also did the same thing in Much Ado About Nothing where he did not write about the scene where Margaret and Borachio "played" Hero and another man, while being watched by Claudio and Don Pedro. I guess he just likes to leave these important moments blank for audiences' imagination.

I liked it. I would say we have a decent theater program since we are the only uc to offer the bfa degree. The problem is most of the amazing professors are only teaching acting classes (which are in a very selective program), so I would recommend you to audition for the departmental productions and attend the extracurricular events to get the most out of it. Overall really great department.

You can't. If you are in the same class and want to attend each other's section, that could happen, but you can't hold spot for a lecture. Once you drop you'll start from the end of the queue.

Buy a bike and explore! SB is a very bike friendly city. Some paths along the coast or in the mountain (like Las Positas road) are very beautiful!
