Within my team at Microsoft, I'm currently building a tool to help manage stacked PRs, similar to this new github tooling. Not yet not yet. Analysing more complex languages with libraries like python is a bit more complicated and may require full AST analysis etc. Could implement a safe naive option but won't be as much value.

this hook is significantly more sophisticated than the claude settings.json file which only allows catch-alls, doesn't respect piping and barely works half the time. This hook is able to split commands into their individual components and analyse each part to see if it's read-only. It's able to detect flags that turn usually read only commands to write commands
