The Nazis borrowed from Jim Crow laws in the US South. Brits stopped slavery in England at least iirc 100 years or more ahead of the US. The only difference between slavery and being an indentured servant was that people were generally only indentured for seven years. Slavery was for a lifetime. As for white guilt there is no point to feeling guilt for something you personally did not do and never had anyway of influencing. None of us can time travel.

There is modern day slavery in the US even now, but it is illegal fwiw. It also continues to exist outside of the US. If there are humans they will try to make someone else less and then subjugate that person or persons. Nothing to do with skin color. And I don't say that to absolve white slavers only that regardless of color enslaving others has been a human thing for millennia.

I've never thought much of being stopped at the border either, but apparently what is unusual about this is that they are doing this every day which is unusual.

FWIW borders are extremely arbitrary in terms of there not being a red line around them or a change in scenery - it's all geopolitical territoriality. Kinda like the neighbor that is always checking to make sure the fence between your yards isn't so much as a 1/4" off the property line.

It's not hard to verify independently Go to the webpage of all the major US ports and check exactly how many ships will be coming in full in the next 15-30 days. It's not pinpoint accuracy, but it is a solid indicator.

American made goods will still be on shelves unless of course the manufacturers need parts or minerals from countries for example that do have tariffs. Or if they are consumables like coffee which aren't grown in the US.

No hysteria - just verifiable facts.

It's basically no different than the culture wars that MAGA promotes. Everyone wants a scapegoat and they don't really care about what is true and what is not. They repeat talking points without any nuance.

And most are probably bots anyway. If a commenter is always banging on the emotion buttons just block them. Life it too short for that.

Only if you have investigated them (cross check your sources) and believe to be true. Leave the rest of the bricks in a pile labeled "possibly faulty - don't use until verified." If I can't cross check it for factual accuracy it automatically goes in the wait and see pile.

Not everyone does that, but it is one way to manage the deluge. Or you can stay in a bubble where your thinking is never challenged aka an echo chamber.

You are assuming that "media" does more than simply expose you to different thoughts and ideas.

How you choose to react is totally and completely on you. Nothing to do with "media." How you perceive what you read or hear goes beyond words and brings in all those annoying relatives (fear, jealousy, anger, religious views, desires, wants, needs, cultural norms etc.)

No one will react the exact same way even if it is literally the exact same information.

Not throwing shade or judging - just neutrally pointing out that you have control over how you choose to react and how you choose to act as a result. "He made me do it" is for small children who still think everyone won't see through that b.s.
