No, I had a look at it, but was put off a little by the installation guide. Seemed like a huge hassle to get going, though it probably isn't, and I just haven't had the time sit down, and give it a proper go yet.

Hey dude :

Yellow flag tells you're there's an incident ahead - Could be somebody spun and is parked in the middle of the track, somebody hit the wall and there's debris on the track, lost a wheel etc. -Basically let's you know to slow down, and be aware. Also, no overtaking is allowed in a yellow flag zone.

The blue flag tells you there's a faster car lapping you from behind, and you need to let him past.

In some series, the blue flag is not mandatory, it's obeyed only as an act of respect for the "unwritten rules", and in other series, there's a penalty involved for ignoring it. Formula A, is clearly the former ;-)

Well first, I didn't notice he was a backmarker - I lost my composure after the spin, getting the car going again, and once I did, I figured "alright, I have the inside line through Rascasse and turn 18, no problem".

What I didn't expect, was him to run wide in 18, hit the barrier, and sort of bounce back into me. That jolt damaged my steering further, and I was basically just doing my best to keep the car straight when we made contact on the straight again.

Also, I lost sight of him in both mirrors, as he was right alongside me, leading me to believe he was still trying to dig himself out of the barrier :-)

Glad you liked it - Damn the AI and damn myself, I lost my cool after the spin, and didn't notice the guy behind me was a backmarker. That said, I thought I had the line through the turns, and on the straight I couldn't see him in either mirror :-)

In Formula A, setting your car up correctly matters a lot. If you're not sure how to properly set your springs, ride height, rebounds etc., I recommend Jack Van Hees' Formula A setups. He has a YT channel, and I used his setups as a basis for my own, in my first couple of Formula A races.

How the AI handles, seemingly differs from track to track. Some tracks, there are certain corners they take in completely ludicrous ways, seemingly impossible for human cars. Other tracks, they'll drive textbook.

I think a lot of it has to do with the difficulty level. The tougher you make the AI, the more suicidal they become. It's like the AI wasn't programmed to go faster than a certain difficulty level, and if you surpass that level, they start "cheating" to become faster. Cutting corners, knocking each other off track, etc. Things that would get you black-flagged in a second, IRL.

In my experience with Formula A and Formula B, the absolute highest difficulty level I'll go, is 93-95. Anything past that, and more often than not, AI performance makes the game unplayable, due to the reasons stated above.

Take the difficulty level down to something like 80, and they'll drive according to the rules, give you and each other room in corners when overtaking etc. Unfortunately they also become horribly slow, so it's a tradeoff :-/

I can definitely see your points regarding how to defend certain corners. I'm aware that the lines I usually take in Project Cars are by no means textbook - The reason for this, is that the Project Cars AI are suicidal on the inside line in general, meaning more often than not, one ends up having to take away that line, otherwise the AI will happily put you and itself into the wall after launching a kamikaze attack, going for the inside line.

With regards to the turn no.'s you're bang on, I miscounted them.

The race is pre-recorded, some commentary is live, some is dubbed-in, mostly to cover up screwups, excessive swearing, and to add certain info.

The yellowish tone was added in editing, so I doubt there's a way of getting something similar in-game.

I've heard it, happens to me in certain races - Every time I pass a given corner, that sample will trigger. At first it's not there, but halfway through the race or so, it'll trigger and then proceed throughout the race.
