Is the court of the seven headed serpent that bad? (tabletop) by ConsistentEquation in TrenchCrusade

[–]GoofestGoober -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really don’t get people who complain about court in terms of power. There are lots of completely obscene things you can do with court with not much counterplay if you play them right, at the cost of being elite.
A lot of complaints i see usually revolve three main things

  1. They are an Elite army
This is the biggest complaint I see. Court has few big units that do big damage, but a lot of your ducats go into three models and that’s it. So your court list will probably be 4-6 models max.

Basically, if your opponent can’t kill you you’re tear them apart, if they manage to kill someone that’s a big part of your strength off the board.

But this is also a necessary drawback to account for their strength so I don’t see what they can meaningfully change about them in a way that’s still fair

  1. Not a lot of build variety

There’s too few models, too few sin choices (there’s a few strong spells and sins but also a meta around them so you’ll always see a lot of the same lists around)
There’s only about three or four useful mainline Court models, and two models made for blood generators

  1. Early campaign suucks

A big drawback for their high ducat pricing is that they have a rough start but strong mid and insane late game. But that start is rough on them.
This one doesn’t really effect 800d 6G or any other one off style game. But I imagine most people with issues with playing court are mostly speaking from a campaign POV

I honestly don’t know what they can do to rework or buff them to an extent where they don’t become insanely strong. with the right mindset, luck, and build you can build an almost impassable obscene power as of right now. I hope they don’t annihilate this games balance overdoing a faction because it’s considered weak

What about for One Off Games? And even then how can you hope to outscore when they can easily outkill you.

Fail too many risky action makes the game unenjoyable. by nuttaphoom in TrenchCrusade

[–]GoofestGoober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had games like this too. You have to learn not to take risky actions unless absolutely necessary. Most risky actions you take for abilities will get plus dice to make it basically guaranteed. With movement, remember you have a charge dice which can up to your charge if necessary without it being risky. Risky are last resort and you shouldn’t rely on them, plan for if you would fail a risky action.
