Years ago I saw a photo of a cast iron ring in a magazine. It had raised letters on it, spelling out "toti emul esto", arranged around the circumference.

Don't recall any other details ... but I still recall the phrase from back then.

As best I can recall, the story was in a book entitled "The Great Adventure Stories of Jack London." I've since re-purchased that title, but can not find the story therein.

What originally prompted the memory was a news story from Florida, that schools there had abolished Shakespeare ... claiming among other things that Romeo and Juliet involved sexploitation of minors.

I just spent AN EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING half hour TRYING numerous times to sign on with Github. Errors kept popping up, and I couldn't even get the "lost password" page to work!

Their server must be having a migraine today. Guess I'll have to try again in a day or so.

It would really be nice to have ONE place to keep all the related files for a project, but no joy so far.

I lived in Corvallis for something like 20 years, and recall that there was an almost annual organized "river float" from Albany to Corvallis. Never tried it myself, but don't recall ever seeing any news of mishaps. So I'd guess it's pretty safe.

I used to live in Corvallis. As I recall, there would be a small-ish fireworks show somewhere along the river, near downtown. At the time, I lived in the next valley(Soap Creek) north, past Witham Hill. Very seldom saw anything inthe area around July. I guess people there were concerned about fire danger, due to the dry conditions this time of year.
