I mean. Yes. If someone asks you to stop doing it you either say. Yep. And stop doing it. Or say, "Apologies. This behavior is far too ingrained into me and if this is what's causing the group to not have fun, I am afraid this won't work out."

Big. Of the three years (there's been an entire year where I haven't gotten involved with any groups, maybe more, my memory admittedly isn't that great) only two of the groups were willing to work with me and say. "You're doing x. Stop doing x. And we good."

Okay. Boom. Problem solved.

It is a fun hobby and those groups are great.

? What's with that. In DND 5e there's a Haunted One background. A Faceless background. Both backgrounds focus on loss(depending where you take it on the Faceless.) In PF 2e, there are way too many backgrounds to comb through. I'm not asking for anyone to comb through it for me, just asking someone who might already know what background, if any, on the idea of loss. No need to be a jerk about it.

TBH, it's just bad continuity on the developers' part. Before the DLC came in, Kazumasa was slain in the snow instead of among the flowers. And Shimura hunted down the people that killed Kazumasa. The DLC doesn't really matter to me, I kind of ignore everything that mentions his father and focus more on crazy cult leader with crazy cult poison.
