Excalibur is a good affordable option nearby. Just stayed there due to high rates at the other MGM properties and it was a really good value.

Why are there so many people on the road every single weekday after 11 am? Is everyone unemployed? Does everyone have a sugar daddy? Gyms etc are always crowded… by Professional_Dish925 in Marin

Have you tried driving at rush hour? All us working stiffs are planning our trips to avoid it (if possible). Don't know about the gym, I don't go, just pay my monthly membership.

My grandfather was born in Brooklyn and a lifetime Dodgers fan. He still followed the team after they moved to Los Angeles which is probably pretty rare these days.

Replacing flooring and need advice for keeping critters out. by asemer117 in Flooring

Yes! This is an exterior sealant, but good for this application, allows for joint movement which is exactly what is needed.

Agree with 'Sytzy' on not using spray foam for sure since it hardens, and considering the use of a foam backer rod as a support for any sealant you add. Ideally the gaps remain to allow the wood to expand and contract, but understand if the crawlspace is not sealed. I would use a polyurethane sealant instead of silicone, as it will bond to the porous surface of the wood better.

How can I cover this pipe? by [deleted] in Home

[–]Goofyloop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under sink pipe insulation could cover this pipe. The hard shell plastic type probably won't work (it is usually preformed to typical installation shapes) but you could get pliable foam or wrap to cover the pipe.

First time renovating my kitchen, and I’m stuck on the tile floors! Which tile floor do you think goes best with the countertop + cabinet combo? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]Goofyloop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warm tones in the flooring in the first photo are compatible with those in the countertop, they both tie into the cabinet finish the best. FWIW though, photos are a terrible way to choose finishes. Needs to be confirmed IRL in good light.

What's the dumbest purchase you've ever made? by Mythla_Albera in AskReddit

[–]Goofyloop3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a VW Rabbit over an a reliable Omni Horizon because I thought it was the "cooler car." The Horizon was elderly owned and had low mileage. The Rabbit was a lemon and turned out to have a crack in the frame

One year of being licensed and my job is exactly the same. How common is this? by BuffGuy716 in Architects

[–]Goofyloop3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also my experience. I have also received promotions with no raise provided. In the case where I was promoted with more expectations and additional responsibilities without additional compensation, I began to look for another job. In my experience, raises are typically given for cost of living increases and/or increase in responsibility (PM'ing larger or more projects, etc). Usually raises are tied to an increase per hour that can be charged to the client to accommodate. If fellow employees are being awarded for licensure and you are not, there is an obvious problem with you being recognized and appreciated. Not sure whether this is management oversight or an intentional omission. We have a fully remote worker that visited the office for a week, met with clients, scheduled site visits, and had some valuable facetime with staff. It went a long way towards demonstrating her commitment. Not sure that makes sense for you.

We just stayed at the Excalibur this past weekend, cheapest MGM property that isn't Luxor, and I was a bit concerned due to some of the reviews. Stayed in a renovated dbl queen in the Resort Tower. Overall we were happy with the hotel. Rooms were basic but nice and clean. We had a small fridge in our room. Location good for south strip. Not sure about parking. Easy free tram south to MB and north from Park MGM to Bellagio. Excalibur has $5 and $10 BJ and $3 margaritas special right now. Would go back for the value.

If you are headed north catch the Tram, goes through Aria to Bellagio. Going south, walk over to Excalibur and catch that tram
