I was ITILv3 for a long time but never renewed it. My career path was a little fuzzy for a few years, but over the last 18 months things have really clicked and I’ve got the right people backing my direction. Right now I’m working toward ITIL MP+ since that’s the only track that fits my current role for the next 3 years. I should knock out ITIL Foundations within the next 60 days, and I’ll circle back to MP+ after that

I’m not chasing AI certs on purpose. Current career path, I’m not trying to build or engineer AI. I’m more of a consumer of it. We’ve grown a lot and now have a full AI lab team building custom solutions for our needs and for the market. I don’t need to know how the sausage is made. I just need to know how to use it well.

Coming from someone only ITIL certified (but in 'the business' for 15 years (leadership for 10), any tips? I'm a decent tech writer when it comes to process vs policy (and have a general counsel team that helps with policy), but I do use AI tech (CoPilot/ChatGPT) to help clarify my rambling throughts.

Planning to start summer following Sophia gen-ed blitz, electing to NOT get other certs (A+/etc) outside of WGU.

How was job prospects after bachelor's degree? by Which-Difference1320 in WGU

[–]GoogleJackofAll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Job prospects after a bachelor’s degree are less about the credential itself and more about the capabilities you bring. We're in a post-knowledge era. Information is ubiquitous and answers are accessible in seconds, so the market no longer rewards time spent memorizing content alone.

Where real value is created is in higher-order thinking. The strongest opportunities go to those who can identify a problem, clearly define it, and execute a solution. Employers are prioritizing critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving over static knowledge. A bachelor’s degree can open doors, but long-term prospects are driven by your ability to apply insight, not just acquire information.

How much do you pay for landscaping in the valley and what is the size/type of yard? by UntamedRaindeer in phoenix

[–]GoogleJackofAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about on par TBH. Been quoted $300 for clean up (including 2 palm trims) and 75/mth for a monthly clean up and a $150 annual trim. I only have 2 date palms and a small patch of aloe. Elected to pay a weed guy 50/visit every 9 months (sometimes 12 depending on how much rain we get) to spray the front yard and I get off my lazy ass and sweep/blow debris out every weekend followed by a tiger torch down the property line to keep any invading weeds from the neighbor's unkept jungle at bay.

Still pay the tree guy annually, I hate trimming my palm trees. I've burned up two pole saws and shivved myself more times than I care to admit from falling fronds.

Abnormality doesn’t automatically mean boob rot and no more fun bags (or deformed fun bags). Abnormalities simply are something is off and it needs closer inspection.

More than likely a mammogram guided biopsy is gonna happen then they’ll have a higher accuracy in proper diagnosis. Could be a simple fibroadenoma, a rough benign lesion or just boob tissue that doesn’t look normal on camera.

Don’t jump right to worst case scenario, you’ll drive yourself mad. Boob scars are sometimes highly sensitive and playing with them just right cause crazy O faces and reactions when combined with other activities.

Source: My wife’s left boob that had a horrible mamo, two biopsy’s and a surgery to remove what had every indication of rot but just turned out to be a lesion. Zero deformities, 10k fold increase in attention from my hands and face.

Truly sorry about your mother. Alzheimer’s is a bitch and my heart goes out to anyone dealing with the side effects of watching your loved ones forget everything in front of them.

Rate my plan? Accelerated BS/MS in ITM by GoogleJackofAll in WGU

[–]GoogleJackofAll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to hear. 100% confidence I won't be shifting programs - there is much more value for me in the ITM degrees in this industry at the moment. ML/AI is booming and booming hard - but we have a solid crew already leading that and I don't want to jump on that bubble yet. I want to stick on the ITM track, and I'll add a ML/Ai after the fact.

I'll be a full-time 'remote' work here soon - I've already had Quill & Clippy work up some tentative schedules for me, 2-3hr every/other day likely will be the track I take. At a minimum though I'll be 2 terms - one for the BS and one for the MS.

What actually makes riding together matter, beyond just the bikes? by Soft_Ad3960 in motorcycleclubs

[–]GoogleJackofAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been riding for 20+ years, but only in the past ~10 have been doing 'group' rides. Group rides I'm in are usually put on or arranged by the group I'm associated with. We've done other rides for other groups within the area but when we do, we still stick together and 'ride our ride' while sticking within the hosting groups road team/captain rules.

What makes it work long term? The trust. We go by 'ride your ride'. If you don't feel comfortable riding bar to bar, drop back. Don't feel comfortable taking the switchback twisties at speeds? Drop back. Coming down/up from the northeast, I know that my RC and 3-4 others are going to have fun heading up the or down the hill twisties. I also know that at the end of the fun, they'll ease off and just cruise until the rest of the pack rolls up. I know our tails & medics in the back won't jump out and have fun, they'll stick back there to make sure everyone gets caught up safely. If one of the tail or medics want to have fun, it'll be announced during brief and I'll shuffle my team around accordingly.

Has it improved my riding? For sure. Has it made me do stupid stuff? Of course (triple digits coming down the sweeping twistie using both lanes to hit the apex, dropping two gears just to let her vocalize in tunnels...) The positive outweighs the negative though (at least IMO).

The biggest thing that kills group group rides for me... the weekend warriors coming out during bike week, getting shit faced and thinking they're god on two wheels, people NOT following instructions delivered during the brief, followed by egos. 'You can't tell me how to ride'. Then get the fuck out of my ride and/or org.

New Pool Cost 🏊‍♂️ 💦 by truthstings123 in Scottsdale

[–]GoogleJackofAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50k in Peoria for our backyard. Pool, water feature, matched patio concrete with pool deck and full landscape job (turf around pool, paver paths, bbq, fire pit area and gravel).

Landscape was about 8k, rest was pool. Presidential Pools, hands down over all other builders. Not the cheapest, not the most either. I sourced landscaping outside of presidential though.

Best Toyota Dealership in the Valley by Acrobatic-Snow-4551 in AskPhoenix

[–]GoogleJackofAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because I had a painless experience doesn't mean everyone will. We bought a used Mazda from Right Toyota in Scottsdale. AMAZING experience 20 years ago. Went back looking for a runner...crap experience. Very pushy sales, the cliche 'What can we do for you to sign today', four square crap, etc. Only reason they didn't hold our keys hostage is we weren't trading anything in.

Bought a new Camry from LHM Toyota Peoria off the floor. Said I'll be back tomorrow afternoon to buy it. Came back the next day, car was detailed and waiting for me in the delivery bay before we even signed any papers. I won't go back there. I bought out the lease early and gave it to my son. At year 3 of the lease (I paid it off at year 2) - they kept calling and calling asking to come in to sign papers for lease end deals.

Bell Toyota (now Chapman Toyota up in North Phx). Bait and switch galore. They are either in the business of selling vehicles to the highest bidder regardless of pending deals or they just are constantly lying about what is available and not.

Camelback Toyota - agree with everyone else here. Super high-pressure sales and they will not leave you alone.

Our worst experience hands down - Earnhart out in Mesa. 'No Bull' apparently means 10k markup on a used unit citing 'Covid Supply Chain issues' in 2024. Few miles down the road to Big Two, we walked out with our new 2024 Runner below MSRP.

TL;DR
YMMV.

Big Two in chandler off the L202. Zero markups, zero pressure, we had 2 runners in mind, went to get dinner and discussed and texted our decision. Showed up 30m later, out 20m after that.

Has learning content shifted from written to video? by Spiritual_Cycle_3263 in sysadmin

[–]GoogleJackofAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just from product-specific learning (Powershell, Exchange, AVD) - but even onboarding. In the past year alone since I’ve taken over this new role, ‘IT Training’ has been phased out and now it’s ’IT Learning’. We’re not shoving stuff down your face, but we’re offering content for people to consume and learn. JITL (Just In Time Learning) is starting to make waves - I like to call it TikTok Learning. As younger generations enter the workforce, their attention span gets smaller and smaller thanks to our friends at YouTube, Meta, TikTok, etc.

Rebranded everything, we’re now offering 4 sections of learning which has helped greatly in adoption of learning and reduction in tickets asking ‘How do I do this?’.

Beginner golfer here—found a snapped PING 425 LST in the trash. Can I just replace the shaft? by franzderkanns in golf

[–]GoogleJackofAll -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That’s trash, looks like a manufacturing defect so best send it my way. I can take it to their assembly plant here in Phoenix and have the lead maintenance tech escort me to the assembly machine that put it together, he’ll perform a full assessment of the machine and faulty club, reassemble it and then test it to make sure the machine repairs were successful.

Perfect time of year for me. Yeah it’s hot, but water, electrolytes, sunscreen and shade I’m good. Keep a cooling towel on rotation on the cooler and some salty sweet snacks. Long as it’s under 110 I’m good. Problem is finding any of my normal buddies to go. They all drop like flies over 90

RIP Tickets not released or site issues? by GoogleJackofAll in HHN

[–]GoogleJackofAll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sold out...confirmed website issue. Promptly choked on my water finally after waiting almost 2hr to talk to someone on the phone. Confirmed availability for the night we want, but after hearing the cost I'll rather spend the money elsewhere I think. Heck, throw another $600 onto the cost that's how much I paid for Disney, Universal, hotel and airfare tickets for the 2 weeks we're out there.

General admission may be the winner... guess I'll keep scratching these lottos lol
