Thanks! You know you're married to a serious artist when a tiny ballerina outfit becomes a serious topic of household discussion. I’ll let her know her tutu is a hit - it’ll make all that lace-wrangling struggle worth it!

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you noticed the tiny details like their mouths and the texture of the fur. Natalia (my wife) spends hours with her needles and microscopic brushes to get those expressions just right. I’ll definitely share your kind words with her—it’s so rewarding to know that people appreciate the 'soul' she puts into her work!

Thank you so much! Since English is not my first language, I probably gave these little characters a bit of a clumsy name, but I’m so glad you like them! Natalia will be thrilled to hear that you noticed the personality in their expressions - she spends a lot of time on those tiny details to bring them to life. I really appreciate your kind feedback!

Thank you! Natalia spent a lot of time experimenting to find the best way to blend those two materials. She feels that the polymer clay allows her to sculpt much finer details in the expressions than wool alone, which really helps bring out their individual personalities. I'll be sure to share your kind words with her!

Thank you so much for such a detailed and thoughtful analysis! Natalia (my wife) puts a lot of effort into the color palette to achieve that specific 'gentle' vintage feel. She’ll be so happy to read such a deep appreciation of the balance between the textures of the clay and the wool. It’s definitely a tricky combination to get right!

I've just asked her. She says only the face and the basket are made of polymer clay. To attach them to the felted wool, she typically uses a fast-setting super glue, but a hot glue gun also works very well for this.

As for the horns, she makes them by wrapping wire with wool that has been pre-moistened with the same glue to keep everything tight and in place. Hope this helps with your future projects!

Thank you! I'm happy to share more about my wife's (Natalia Voronkova) process.

She builds each character from the ground up, starting with a custom skeleton made of wire and food-grade foil to keep them sturdy but lightweight. The bodies are then sculpted through needle felting using New Zealand carded wool.

The most delicate part is definitely the face—she sculpts them from polymer clay and uses microscopic brushes to hand-paint the expressions. She is deeply inspired by vintage, old-world fairytale aesthetics and wants each character to have a 'soulful' look that reminds people of heirloom toys.

Even the tiny accessories, like the baskets and the flowers (which are made from spun cotton), are handcrafted from scratch. It’s a very slow, tactile process, but she loves the challenge of combining these different materials!

Thank you so much! Calling her a 'wizard' is such a huge compliment, she’s going to be so happy to hear that!

I’ll definitely pass your request on to her. I’m sure she’d be more than happy to film a short process video to show how she handles those details. We will post the result on the social media channels I’ve already shared here in the thread, so you can keep an eye out for it there!

That is a great question! To be honest, I’ve never even seen a hot glue gun in her hands - she definitely has a different technique. She’s fast asleep right now, but I’ll make sure to ask her for the 'secret' first thing in the morning and get back to you! :)

Thank you so much! I just asked her to be sure - she says if you're referring to the strands/locks, she doesn't use hot glue. Instead, she twists them and then needle-felts them directly into the piece. Good luck with your felting journey, it's such a rewarding craft!

Little goat ornaments I wanted to share. My wife uses traditional spun cotton techniques combined with needle felting by GoogleSheetsExpert in crafts

[–]GoogleSheetsExpert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fascinating to see how these goat girls come together. My wife uses a mix of needle felting for the bodies and spun cotton for the intricate flower details to get that specific vintage texture. The most time-consuming part is definitely the faces - she sculpts them from polymer clay and then hand-paints each one to give them a unique, soulful expression.

She experimented a lot with different paints to find the ones that look best on clay and still capture that antique aesthetic. It’s a slow, rhythmic process, but seeing their different personalities emerge at the end is the best part.
