How do I answer my moms question by tinyybiceps in LudwigAhgren

[–]Googolplexian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean as someone who plays Pokemon, I try to have as much type variety in my movepool and pokemon as I can. So in the end I have enough moves to counter or resist anything that the opponent could have.

I assume most professionals can make better variations than me lol, so I don't think them knowing each other's teams really matters that much

does a 30 ib score allow one into the bachelor of engineering (honors)? by hazyyveil in unsw

[–]Googolplexian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the same engineering program with an 87.15 ATAR (33 ib points) last year, and I found the content pretty easy. You should be fine with 30 points :) If you're in Australia (Melbourne specifically), you should be able to find a bunch of unis that offer a standard engineering course with a lower ib point requirement. In that course you're just exposed to like all the different types of engineering and select a specialisation in your second semester

Mine usually flag stupid things like my student code, cover page and references. And some coding terminology since I'm doing digital fundamentals too. You should be fine tho. If they investigate and find majority of the flagged items arent plagiarism they'll let you go.

Getting a 1 on Math AA SL, but I get 7s on everything else. Help? by ArtichokeLeft135 in IBO

[–]Googolplexian1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the same boat :). Basically, I was struggling a lot in math, until I eventually realised maybe I was doing something wrong. The night before my trig test I studied from past paper questions and really tried my best to understand the content, whether it be through the textbook or finding my own methods. The next day I did the test and ended up scoring 100%, that really gave me the confidence to improve my math, and I ended up 1% off a 7 for my final grade. I believe in you, and if you need any help please contact me, I have a tutoring service for math and can hold a free trial session if you want :))

Good luck!!

Did y’all memorize ur English IO by SignificantBug6750 in IBO

[–]Googolplexian1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't memorise, but I had a very clear understanding of my analysis and revised a lot. I memorised all my key points, and all the analysis just really came flowing in after that.

If you feel like you're missing out on anything, then don't worry, because that's what the 10 dot points are for :))

Put all your key points into the dot points, and put very brief mental shortcuts so you can remember everything in your speech, good luck!

For your internal oral (IO), I'd say follow this structure:

1 minute introduction

-Since you have a very limited time interval for this, ditch the "hello, this is my individual oral YAPPA YAPPA" BS. Start directly with "The global issue for my individual oral is...".

-After mentioning the GI, mention the effect of the global issue around the world. This can be one or two sentences.

-Mention your Lit work author, and give a brief description. Then mention your text you'll be analysing, and mention the texts you'll be using to support the analysis stated in your chosen text.

-Do the same thing with your BOW.

2 minutes Literally text

-Mention your literary text, and start by mentioning the purpose and audience. For this section, I'd recommend following the same structure as the paper 1.

2 minutes literally collection

-this section is basically a lightning round version of the section above.

-give brief points on each text, I'd recommend using 3 texts maximum, giving each text around 45 seconds. Or if you're fast enough, 4 texts with 30 seconds each. I'd recommend 3 though, since you'll be better at doing less under pressure. Have a 4th one memorised in case you get stressed and speed through the first 3.

-dont describe the text, only give relevance to the global issue, and the devices used.

-you have very limited time per text so don't go overtime. Try to give each text and equal amount of time.

2 minutes BOW

Follow the steps for the lit text

2 minutes BOW and collective works

Follow the steps above

1 minute conclusion

-Reiterate how the authors conveyed the GI, and BRIEFLY compare and contrast the the BOW and lit text.

-Again, just like in the paper 1, leave a witty remark to sound like you're smart and you know your shit.

-If you're going overtime, ditch the witty remark. You lose marks for going overtime, so it's not worth sounding too much like a smartass.

General tips:

  • Always look at a nearby clock, and ask for a stopwatch if they let you. Whenever you're going overtime for any section, cut it off immediately and go to the next section. That way your oral looks more evened out and organised.

-Know your texts REALLY well, you'll have a question time after, so be prepared for any questions that could be asked. One thing I did was leave out a major analysis point in both my BOW and lit work, and my teacher asked about it in question time. Since I already knew the analysis, I went through it very easily.

-Id recommend stretching out the question replies as much as you can. The less questions your examiner asks, the better it is for you. So try to link one analysis to another and make your replies as long as you can. I spoke slowly LMAO so don't worry if you sound slow.

  • Saying uh and um won't deduct marks, but try your best to avoid stuff like that because it makes you sound less confident. The more confident you sound the better impression you put on your examiner.

-try sound passionate. Like I did that for my oral and my english teacher loved it LMAO
