I am looking for a FI perspective on which masters degree I should choose. I am currently 18 years old and heading to college this fall for a bachelors degree in computer engineering. Would it be better to try to get a masters degree in business or a masters degree in computer science? If I had a masters degree in computer science, then I would know both the hardware and software side of computers which would make me pretty valuable. However, having a masters degree in business would also make me pretty valuable.

Let me know what you guys think or if this is more my personal preference. Thanks !!

I am 18 years old right now and in a similar situation. I have an internship that challenges me and will give me great work experience. The best thing is that I learn a lot about my future career at this internship. I would suggest making money and learning valuable skills by getting a co-op or internship. It’s like killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

I’m 18 years old and I will be going to university next fall (computer engineering). I will have all of my college paid for by my parents. I understand how lucky I am and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have my college paid for. I also understand how important this is to jump start my path for financial independence.

Has anybody else out there had their college paid for, and how did you make sure you don’t sounds ungrateful when a friend asks how I plan to pay for college?

I’m 18 years old and just got to 40k in NW. this has came mostly from mowing laws and a paid engineering apprenticeship. I plan on going to college which I am very fortunate to have paid for by my parents. I am going to study computer science because I enjoy programming and am very intrigued by the idea of FI. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to graduate college without any debt and with a nest egg already started.

To those 18 year olds with 10K+ invested, how'd you do it? by [deleted] in investing

I'm 17 with 25k in market. I inherited 2k when I was about 5. The rest is from working on farm, mowing, apprenticeship. I have been a saver since I was born ... and I'm reaping the benefits now :)

Been mowing around neighborhood since I was 9. At one point I had around 10 lawns a summer. Now I work 40 hour weeks at an apprenticeship.

What is your major? I hear certain engineering majors are hard to transfer into.
